Only rebooting the Win7 machine fixes this. However, using the CIFS work-around, thereby using the older SMB1 approach, this issue does not occur. (/forumdisplay.php?fid=40) +---- Thread: Yosemite using SMB can't mount as registered user (/showthread.php?tid=144646) Yosemite using SMB can't mount as registered user - vladox - 08-20-2015 06:12 PM Hi Since AFP directory browsing is extremely slow I want to switch to SMB2 to connect to my DROBO 5N in Yosemite 10.10.4 (14E46). But I can only connect as a guest whenever I try to connect as a "registered user" i.e Admin I get an error in the command line reads "mount_smbfs: server rejected the connection: Authentication error" in the GUI it just shakes the window but I guess it's having the same problem. Using the Admin account to log from the finder using the default AFP https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5467191?start=45&tstart=0 protocol doesn't have any problems. I'm the only one experiencing this? Is there a known workaround? I couldn't find anything specific to the Drobo 5N... Thank for any hint BR Vlad RE: Yosemite using SMB can't mount as registered user - johnm - 08-20-2015 06:30 PM The 5N doesn't support SMB2 so you'd be best advised to stick with AFP. It may be implemented in a future firmware release but don't http://www.drobospace.com/forums/printthread.php?tid=144646 hold your breath. RE: Yosemite using SMB can't mount as registered user - aewehr - 08-20-2015 07:25 PM I've been manually mounting as smb for the past 18 months without issue. I configure my router to reserve and always assign the same IP to the drobo5n. I then connect manually: command+k smb://ip.of.drobo.5n/ Log in as your admin's username (the one you use to log into drobo dashboard) Select and mount your share. Have not had any issues mounting in this manner. If this still gives you trouble, establish a new user with read/write access to your shares and utilize that. Hope this helps! RE: Yosemite using SMB can't mount as registered user - don - 08-20-2015 10:29 PM No issue here with OSX Yosemite with 5N. I will suggest you doing this.. 1) Use the Drobo Dashboard to manage/create users and Shares only. - That means login to the Dashboard as the Drobo 5N Admin and create all the user account and shares you needed. 2) Try NOT to use the Dashboard to mount shared. As you can manually mount any shared as any user using the OSX Finder. **Note: If you have already mount a Share using the Dashboard.. as say Admin (Dashboard login as Admin and click the che
