For that matter, is there such a directory? Have you tried searching your system (in particular, your registry) for the string? –Scott Sep 26 '15 at 23:43 @Scott There is no C;\Program Data directory. I did have some junkware/virus controlling my browser at some point which I cleared up. I wonder if it is left over from that. I haven't googled the string (you can't copy and paste it!) but I will give that a go. –Lembik Sep 27 '15 at 9:00 2 I would suggest to do a full virus scan with your antivirus and with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Have you run any registry cleanup lately, installed a new antivirus product or uninstalled some product, in Windows or as add-on to Chrome? –harrymc Oct 18 '15 at 18:24 1 I'd go with Sysinternal's tools. Process Explorer has drag&drop functionality to detect process which is owner of the window you see, and Autoruns would help you to erase the record from registry which starts that process at windows start up. –jan.supol Oct 22 '15
