"Cannot find the specified file" « on: August 31, 2008, 12:36:47 AM » I recently bought a new flash drive to transfer files between computers... when I plug it into my USB port, it finds the hardware and says it's installed and ready to use. I start to transfer files onto it. After a couple files it stops and tell me "Cannot create or replace (file name): cannot find the specified file." Then when I open the drive it says it's empty even if there's files on it. If I disconnect and reconnect (or uninstall and reinstall), it may (or may not) work for a minute and then repeat the same problem. My Window's Updates are all up-to-date (I'm using Windows XP). I've formatted and reformatted to not avail. I've tried the other USB port, no change. It works just fine on two other computers but not this one. I tried another flash drive and encountered the same problem but I've not had this problem before now. Any suggestions would be great appreciated. When I transfer a large file (300 MB) or even just several MP3s, it breaks off in the middle and I get a dialog box that says "ERROR COPYING FILE OR FOLDER Cannot copy xxx.mp3. Cannot find the specified file. Make sure you specify the correct path and file name." I have no choice but to pull the USB cable since the Pre won't eject, whereupon the Pre does a Luna start. I've replicated this problem on a patched (60 http://forums.webosnation.com/palm-pre-pre-plus/252610-transfer-interrupted-usb-mode-cannot-copy-x-cannot-find-specified-file.html or so) Pre, a freshly doctored one, with many different USB cables and ports, and two different laptops. Anyone have any suggestions? Everything else works fine. The most reliable way to upload files is by WOSQI, but I can only do it one by one, and it's a bit long for many MP3. If you're using the same port and the same cable for all the phones, it may not be the phones. Liked by 07/15/2010, 07:31 PM #3 (permalink) garglo Member Posts: 1 Same problem here. Whenever the copy reaches a .tif file it fails with the error "Cannot find the file specified". I can copy it locally to the same drive but not to a USB hard or a shared location on another server. It only seems to affect cannot find specified .tif files for some reason. Any thoughts on where I even begin to start troubleshooting? Its so odd driving me mental! –CharlesH Jan 27 '15 at 10:12 Permissions? ... –DavidPostill Jan 27 '15 at 10:19 1 If the servers are networked, can you try copying a tif file from the destination server rather than pushing it from the originating server? –Peter Fowler Jan 27 '15 at 10:21 Hey David, All seems fine I can move it to another location (another local HD) Security shows my rights as full control. So moving from D to C is fine, moving from D or C to USB or to \\xxx\xxx\xxx it fails, I can move all over files to these locations until I reach a TIF and then it stops with this stupid error! –CharlesH Jan 27 '15 at 10:21 | show 2 more comments 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted If the s
