Description fireblaze 2007-12-12 14:57:38 UTC "cannot find symbol"-error hint light up on some package-local classes, the code compiles but Netbeans IDE report that the code can not be found. It does not happen if the file that contains the package-local class is open. Comment 1 Jan Lahoda 2007-12-12 22:28:58 UTC Do you have a test case reproducible from scratch? It is very hard to do anything about it without a reproducible test case. Comment 2 nicolo 2008-01-07 13:25:19 UTC It happened to me too: when i call a method of a class which doesn't have directly the method but extends a class which extends a class whitch extends a class of a Jar imported in the project. for example i call x.meth(); x is an istance of the class X. X doesn't have the method meth() but extends A. A doesn't have the method meth() but extends B. B is contained in a Jar imported as library Comment 3 fireblaze 2008-01-07 14:03:00 UTC file one: Main.java public class Main implements

Error Cannot Find Symbol In Java
Whiteboard: Keywords: Depends on: Blocks: Show dependency tree /graph Reported: 2008-11-25 10:16 UTC by psecheresse Modified: 2016-07-07 07:16 UTC (History) CC List: 0 users See Also: Issue Type: DEFECT https://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=123886 Exception Report : Attachments Example project displaying the errors conatining the Sentinel jar (88.73 KB, application/x-compressed) 2008-11-25 10:19 UTC, psecheresse Details View All Add an attachment (proposed patch, testcase, etc.) Note You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug. Description psecheresse 2008-11-25 10:16:22 UTC This bug was already in NB 6.1, but without any real https://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=153840 issue: one a the class display many errors, even the imports are correct and the library contains the needed jar file. Since version 6.5, things are going worst as I cannot compile any more. The associated jar file encapsulate some JNI calls for a Sentinel Superpro dongle key. The jar can be opened, the class and the methods are displayed with the auto completion. When I switched from NB 6.1 to 6.5, the project was compiling but since I cleared the project, I cannot compile any more: Caused by: java.lang.RuntimeException: Uncompilable source code - cannot find symbol symbol : class SentinelSuperpro location: package rainbow Comment 1 psecheresse 2008-11-25 10:19:35 UTC Created attachment 74123 [details] Example project displaying the errors conatining the Sentinel jar Comment 2 Jiri Prox 2008-11-25 14:33:58 UTC Turn off Compile On Save (in project properties), it will bring back the old behavior at least Comment 3 Jan Lahoda 2008-12-01 13:08:02 UTC The main problem here seems to be that the SentinelManager/lib/rainbow.jar is broken. For example: $ jar tf rainbow.jar java.util.zip.ZipException: invalid entry size (expected 868548616 but got 439 bytes) at java.util.zip.ZipInputStream.readEnd(ZipInputStream.java:376) at java.util.zip.ZipInputStream.read(ZipInputStream.java:148) at java.util.zip.ZipInputStream.closeEntry(ZipInputStream.java:92) at sun.tools.jar.Main.list(Main.java:863)

I'm new to NetBeans and am having trouble getting my different classes to access https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaLhKxdKdOk each other - something I can do when coding using a command prompt. I have a new project in NetBeans that calls methods in another .class file. The NetBeans project and the .class file (called Mosaic) I am calling reside in the same folder in my computer. Yet, every call to a Mosaic method in my NetBeans project gives me a cannot find "Cannot find Symbol Symbol: variable Mosaic" error. I asked this question earlier and one responder told me to use Add JAR/Foler in Project Properties/Libraries. I did this for the relevant folder, but I continue to get "Cannot find Symbol" error messages. So either I did not understand the process, or the instructions were off. Can anyone walk me through this so that I can get a NetBeans Project to access a different .class file? Thank cannot find symbol you in advance. So if the fully qualified name is com.foo.bar.yourpackage.Mosiac.class then the class file should reside in a directory com/foo/bar/yourpackage and you need to add the top level folder (in this case com) in the project properties/libraries dialog. Part of my problem is that I am pretty new to Java, so I don't really have the language to correctly describe the problem. My apologies. So I have this folder on my computer. In the folder, I have the Mosaic.class. The Mosaic.class is not part of any package (just a .class residing in a folder). In the same folder, I have the Package that contains the NetBeans project (called UsesMosaic). As I described earlier, any calls to Mosaic.class methods from the program UsesMosaic result in a "Cannot Find Symbol Symbol: variable Mosaic" error. If I simply write the same UsesMosaic program on WordPad and save it in the folder that contains the
