Here's where it gets weird. All of the shortcuts to the game, either the target field is empty, http://superuser.com/questions/559921/cannot-find-the-program-file-directory-for-civilization-iv or it leads back to itself. WTF is this? The "show in folder" also only gives me a folder containing the shortcut. Out of ideas. Guessing the folder is hidden, but I have "view hidden files and folders" enabled. I explicitly recall installing Civilization IV (from a purchased disc, so it's a legitimate version) in the default install path. I have no idea why it's not showing up in the default install path. Also the game is running perfectly fine (from any of the shortcuts). Is there any other way for me to pinpoint the install directory? windows-7 gaming share|improve this question edited Oct 24 '14 at 18:04 Oliver Salzburg♦ 56.1k36185245 asked Mar 2 '13 at 18:59 user203658 61 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Find out the process ID of the game when it's running by opening a command prompt and doing "tasklist". Once you have the PID of the game, say it was 1340, run this at a cmd prompt wmic process where processid=1340 list full that will show you, among other things, the full path and command line that was used to launch the execu

This all started because I was trying to move the Program Files and Users folders to a hdd so my ssd could be clutter-free. I failed at this somehow. I followed the steps here: http://www.tested.com/news/feature/2341-how-to-move-you... I did something cannot find wrong. In the C:\ folder I see the shortcuts to Program Files, Program Files (x86) and Users. However, the only one that works properly is Program Files. For the other two I get an error message saying that the location is unavailable. In the F:\ drive I only see the Program Files folder and the Users folder (the (x86) one has disappeared somewhere). After failing to find a solution windows cannot find online I decided I should just do a clean install. However, when I use my (authentic) disk I get an error message: "windows cannot install required files " error code 0x800700D What are my options? I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Does the right drive come up as the destination drive to put the Windows install on? If you have the installation running and you have the drives listed then you could delete the partition on the drive you want then create the patition and format it. The Windows disk is probably seeing the Windows folder there and won't accept that drive as the destination drive. By deleting the partition you are effectivly destroying the files and folders on that drive so you can then format it and do a clean install. m 0 l Can't find your answer ? Ask ! I receive an error similar to what was described earlier, "Windows cannot find c: program files (x86)\itunes\itunes.exe.The shortcut is visible on my desktop. If I navigate to the folder, it shows it's there, but even if I click on the exe file, it tells me it's not there. I have uninstalled everything, including all Apple applications, and re-installed it, and it does not work. I have even tried using another itunes.exe file from an identical computer that works, and it still tells me that it cannot find the itunes.exe file.Am I missing something here? Even right off the exe file in the itunes directory, it tells me it can't find the itunes.exe file, whether I click on it, or try to run it as the administrator. I even tried to install an older version of itunes, and it still tells me the same results... Every other program on my computer still works, as I was fearful it was some type of virus...Short of me launching it off a balcony, I'm out of ideas.
