Win Server 2012 up vote 0 down vote favorite I have schtasks /query the system cannot find the path specified batch script file, which should encrypt a file with pgp. I have defined a task in task scheduler to do this, but I am keep receiving the error"The system cannot find the file specified". Interestingly, when I run the same line of script in my powershell , the encrypted file is successfully generated. I was wondering if anyone knows what can possibly be wrong here? I tried to give the full path in my batch script , and also added the pass in start in part, when defining the action. the batch scrip code is here:: rem @echo off @set path=c:\test;%path% @set d=%date:~-4,4%%date:~4,2%%date:~-7,2% @set d=%d: =_% @set t=%time:~0,2%%time:~3,2%%time:~6,2% @set t=%t: =0% Rem Generate PGP encrypted file @echo Starting PGP... >> c:\apps\ftpLogs\test.log gpg2 --batch --yes -r testkey --output c:\test\foo\test_20150505.pgp --encrypt c:\test\foo\test_20150505.txt >> c:\apps\ftpLogs\test.log and the script that I ran in my powershell, which works fine, is this line: gpg2 --batch --yes -r testkey --output c:\test\foo\test_20150505.pgp --encrypt c:\test\foo\test_20150505.txt >> c:\apps\ftpLogs\test.log windows-server-2012 scheduled-ta

However, I simply cannot get the file path working correctly. I need another set of eyes. SCHTASKS /CREATE /TN "TASK1" /TR "\"C:\Program_Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SpybotSD.exe\" \AUTOCHECK \AUTOFIX \AUTOCLOSE" /ST cannot find the 01:00:00 /SC Daily /RU MyUser /RP MyPass I've looked at other threads here, and MS documentation, and I think I have that formed correctly. However, it fails with the output: ERROR: Invalid syntax. Mandatory option '/sc' is missing. Type "SCHTASKS /CREATE /?" for usage. The system cannot find the path specified. I could use some advice here. batch-file scheduled-tasks share|improve this question edited Apr 23 '15 at 21:11 Andreas Niedermair 13.1k45097 asked Apr 29 '11 at 21:50 Ducain 7661923 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 6 down vote accepted You need to escape the ampersand with a caret like this: SCHTASKS /CREATE /TN "TASK1" /TR "\"C:\Program_Files\Spybot - Search ^& Destroy\SpybotSD.exe\" \AUTOCHECK \AUTOFIX \AUTOCLOSE" /ST 01:00:00 /SC Daily /RU MyUser /RP MyPass share|improve this answer edited May 1 '11 at 20:13 answered May 1 '11 at 19:19 mousio 6,20021733 On my machine (Windows 7), while the caret did help to get the task registered, it did not actually run.
