Now, when I attempt to run a different project (D:\TFS\sys\companydomain.com\Dev\Flowers\wsBusinessLayer) in VS2013 using IIS Express (Project URL http://localhost:59729/Flowers/wsBusinessLayer/) I get the following error message in the browser: HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid. I have tried: Enabling "break on CLR exceptions when thrown" Re-getting the solution from TFS Rebooting Switching to use IIS and then back to Express Googling 500.19, 0x80070003, wrong path, cannot read configuration file, and various combin

I have been trying to install BugNet on my company's server, following the instructions to the best of my ability. Because I am not installing to /inetpub/wwwroot as our server uses virtual hosting, so that multiple domains (about 5) are running on the same physical machine and I need bugnet on only one of them (i.e. our website, not one of our four clients' sites). I have added /IIS_USER and /NETWORK SERVICE as having full control over the BugNet directory, subdirectories, and files. When I connect to the Install.aspx page via http://www.[site].com/BugNet/Install/Install.aspx I get a 500.19 error: Config Error: Cannot read configuration file due to insufficient permissions Config File: \?\C:\Inetpub\vhosts\[site].com\httpdocs\web.config What have I not done that will make this work? The other thread directed me at Process Monitor, but I cannot get thsi program to detect access to the config file; filtering for "contains bugnet" gives me 32 results, but turning monitoring back on and reloading the install page does not cause this number to change, nor do any of the 32 listings help me solve the problem. Reply terridonahue 849 Posts MVP Re: Cannot read configuration file due to insufficient permissions HTTP Error 500.19 Aug 20, 2013 11:27 AM|terridonahue|LINK IIS7 and IIS8 use a special applicationpool identity for websites. The application pool identity is the name of the application pool your site is running under. For example, if the application pool name is BugNet, you would need to assign NTFS permissions for that user. You will need to type in 'IIS AppPool\BugNet' without the quotesrather than selecting it from the list because it is not a physical user on the system. Terri Donahue Microsoft MVP ASPNET/IIS Please
