What they refer to as a "diagnostic check" is just having a code scanner hooked up to the vehicle's computer. The scanner reads through and finds out what error codes the computer system has registered. Once the https://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20090913114750AATwcbW codes are read, it is up to a person to make an educated guess as to what is causing the errors to show up.The issue is that a single problem(such as a bad sensor) can cause multiple error codes. I worked at autozone and at other parts stores for a few years, and I know that having codes scanned is very helpful.
