I think it has something to do with Acrobat as it started once I loaded Acrobat onto my computer but I do not know how to make it go away. Word and Powerpoint work just fine. When I click on HELP next to it, I get the following message: Compile error in hidden module: (module name) A protected module cannot be displayed. http://www.mrexcel.com/forum/excel-questions/283584-compile-error-hidden-module-distmon-ms-visual-basic.html The error has the following cause and solution: - There is a compilation error in the code of the specified module, but it cannot be displayed because the project is protected. - Unprotect the project and then run the code again to view the error For additional information, slect the item in question and press F1. I am not technical at all and totally unsure of what to do. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!! When code tries to execute it auto compiles, if there is a syntax error in it, and the project is protected you will receive that error. If You get it with every workbook you open it is most likely an addid. Try turning all you addins off, then opening a workbook. If the error stops then you just begin turning the addins on one by one until you get the error again then you will know which one is the guilty party. Guest, Sep 16, 2006 #1 Advertisements Don Guillett Guest As I recall this has something to do with a scanning http://www.itexperience.net/2008/08/21/compile-error-in-hidden-module-distmon-in-excel-2003-and-2007/ package. Don Guillett, Sep 16, 2006 #2 Advertisements Gord Dibben Guest See KB article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q307410 The PDFMaker.xla and maybe PDFMaker.dot are stored in your Office\XLSTART folder or in the Excel\XLSTART folder. Any files in these folders will open with Excel. You must compile error in remove them from the XLSTART folder. I found the answer on the ADOBE support site. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/300033 I used #46...I made the batch file and ran it. The other replies might work for you also. Hudson, Aug 18, 2009 #4 RossM Guest It solved my problem. Thanks. "Don Guillett" wrote: > As I recall this has something to do with a scanning package. get the following error when you start Excel 2003 or Excel 2007: "Compile Error in Hidden Module: Distmon" Cause: The cause of this error is PDFMaker.xla, which loads at startup. Solution: The easiest solution is to delete PDFMaker.xla from your computer. Since Adobe Professional 8 uses DLL-addins to add the toolbar in Excel, you can safely delete the PDFMaker.xla file on your computer. PDFMaker.xla may be at one or more locations on your computers. Typically, PDFMaker.xla is stored in your profile directory: C:\Documents and Settings\
