the database is overloaded or otherwise not running properly. The site administrator should also check that the database details have been correctly specified in config.phpHowever, I'm sure my system has a perfect coonection to database, for I could use "phpMyAdmin" to manage my database. and in config.php of Moodle, my set error establishing a database connection website is as follows:$CFG->dbtype = 'mysql'; // mysql or postgres7 (for now)$CFG->dbhost = 'localhost'; // eg localhost or db.isp.com$CFG->dbname = 'moodle'; // database name, eg moodle$CFG->dbuser = 'root'; // your database username$CFG->dbpass = '123456'; // your database password$CFG->prefix = 'mdl_'; // Prefix to use for all table names$CFG->dbpersist = false; // Should database connections be reused? // "false" is the most stable setting // "true" can improve performance sometimesI'm using WinXP. Store Technote (troubleshooting) Problem(Abstract) I.T. administrator launches Cognos Configuration, and opens the section 'Data Access - Content Manager - Content Store'. Administrator configures the value for error establishing a database connection godaddy 'Database server with port number or...' with the value 'servername:1433'. Administrator right-clicks what does error establishing a database connection mean on 'Content Store' and clicks 'test'. Administrator receives error message. Symptom Cognos Configuration Cognos Configuration is performing the following tasks: error establishing a database connection cpanel Generating cryptographic information Testing Content Manager database connection Close Details [Content Manager database connection] 1. [ ERROR ] The database connection failed. 2. [ ERROR ] Content Manager is unable to access https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=19451 the content store. Verify your database connection parameters, and then contact your database administrator for assistance. Cause There are many different potential root causes for this problem. TIP: Search the Technotes for more examples (for example see the KB articles that are mentioned inside 'related documents'). This Technote specifically covers the following potential causes: Scenario #1 - Administrator has chosen the incorrect TCP port By http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21347888 default, Microsoft SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 'listen' on TCP port 1433. However, each TCP port can only be used simultaneously by one Windows application/service. Therefore, if there is a different application/service using TCP port 1433, then Microsoft SQL may have been configured to listed to a different port. For example, SQL 2000 supports up to 4 separate 'named' instances of SQL. Therefore, as an example, you could have the following 4 separate SQL servers running on the same physical box: sqlservername sqlservername\collation1 sqlservername\collation2 sqlservername\collation3 Each of these separate servers would require a separate TCP port (e.g. 1433, 1434, 1435, 1436). Scenario #2 - SQL server has not been configured to allow SQL logins When Microsoft SQL is installed, the administrator is asked whether they want to allow: (a) ' Windows Authentication only' (the default) (b) or whether it allows 'SQL logins' as well as Windows logons. This is known as ' mixed mode' authentication. Because Cognos Controller uses SQL logins (such as 'fastnet'), we shall need 'mixed mode' enabled. Resolving the problem Scenario #1 - Administrator has chosen the incorrect TCP port Check which TCP port the SQL server is
2013. laptop_user Member Hi everyone, So today I update my Debian Squeeze to Wheezy and update my ispconfig to latest 3.0.5.2. I https://www.howtoforge.com/community/threads/roundcube-database-error-connection-failed.62453/ can't login to webmail after update so I guess I http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=907222 need to reinstall roundcube. I follow this tutorial here http://www.howtoforge.com/using-roundcube-webmail-with-ispconfig-3-on-debian-wheezy-apache2 and somehow there's no step to enter roundcube user password. Code: MySQL application password for roundcube: <-- roundcubesqlpassword - wizard don't show me the step above. and also I get error because database connection existing roundcube database has already existed so I drop it and created a new one with Code: dpkg-reconfigure roundcube-core I try to login to roundcube database via phpmyadmin but failed. So I guess probably the password is wrong or something so I ran Code: vi /etc/roundcube/debian-db.php and add my own password: Code: $dbpass='mypassword'; error establishing a but unfortunately nothing change. I can't login to roundcube db via phpmyadmin. So now my problem is my website roundcube www.hello.com/webmail is giving me this error: Code: DATABASE ERROR: CONNECTION FAILED! Unable to connect to the database! Please contact your server-administrator. Now I'm not sure in what way I can troubleshoot? Anyone know how to solve this? Thanks in advance. Last edited: Jul 5, 2013 laptop_user, Jul 5, 2013 #1 laptop_user Member The issue has been resolved. I login to console as root and then change the roundcube user password manually. mysql> use mysql; Reading table information for completion of table and column names You can turn off this feature to get a quicker startup with -A Database changed mysql> UPDATE user SET Password = PASSWORD ('putyourroundcubepass') WHERE User='roundcube'; Query OK, 1 row affected (0.02 sec) Rows matched: 1 Changed: 1 Warnings: 0 mysql> FLUSH PRIVILEGES; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.39 sec) mysql> q

Posts 10 Database Connection Failed Hello, I have three sites on my Dedicated server and all use MySql Database and all using same address. One is a Social Community, one a Forum, and the other a Helpdesk. And all Three are not connecting to database. This is the message I get with the Social Network. Error Database connect failed Warning: mysql_error(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/usr/public_html/inc/classes/BxDolDb.php on line 431 Fatal error: Call to a member function getParam() on a non-object in /home/usr/public_html/inc/db.inc.php on line 83 This is the error for the forum: Connection Problems Sorry, SMF was unable to connect to the database. This may be caused by the server being busy. Please try again later. And this is the error for the helpdesk: There has been a fatal error with the A5 Core. -------------- The MySQL Database Drive has been unable to connect to the datavase. The following error was returned. Access denied for user 'usr'@'localhost' (using password: YES) 1045 I have gotten these before and the way i have fixed it was just by uploading the install scripts for each again and reinstalling up to the point where it adds the database. I get Duplicate Key(1) when it gets to adding the database. Once it gets to that point and I see Duplicate Key I just go ahead and put in the url of the site and the browser will again show the sites and not the Database connection error. It only seems to be temporary though so I am asking is how would I fix such a problem with out having to use the install scripts? If there is anyone who can help It would be Greatly Appreciated.
