I am not sure if this is something that your hosting provider will adjust for you. It depends if your VPS is managed or unmanaged. I would suggest you ask your host / VPS admin to check MySQL's max_connection setting and increase the default 100 to 250. The setting is located in the server's my.cnf If your VPS has cPanel or WHM it could be located somewhere in the panel itself.
