Pentaho Oracle Jdbc Driver
Forum Posts Private Message Junior Member Join Date Apr 2011 Posts 1 Hello, I am getting this same error trying to connect to SQL server 2008. Have you been able to figure it out? Thank you, Bonnie Reply With Quote 07-27-2011,04:33 PM #3 hazamonzo View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message Senior Member Join Date Oct 2006 Posts 219 If you're connecting to MS SQL Server 2008 be sure that you download the JTDS JDBC driver from sourceforge and copy it into the biservers tomcat/lib directory as well as the administration consoles lib/jdbc directory. Restart both the biserver and admin console. when you load into the admin console next you should be able to choose this driver to use. Then enter the jdbc url as something like this: jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://YOUR_HOSTNAME_HERE/YOUR_DATABASE_NAME_HERE Click Test. However, I'm unable to test the connection as I get the error (pasted below). I have JDK 1.7 installed on the system as well, however I can't seem to locate ojdbc14.jar anywhere. I downloaded that and pasted it in pentaho's \lib folder but I still get the same error. Any solutions to this problem? I have numerous steps all depending on the same database connection. The username and password are provided by the user as parameters. If the wrong credentials are provided, every single step that is dependent on the database connection fails to initialize and logs a separate error about it. This results in a great wall of scary red text, that pentaho database connection I am afraid will be quite hard to interpret for the intended end user of the transformation. So, is there any way to test the database credentials before the other steps are initializing and then log a single informative error message if they are incorrect? database-connection pentaho kettle share|improve this question asked Oct 5 '15 at 12:50 Anders 3,99752035 couldn't you define a job containing two transformations, in the first get the database connection parameters, test the connection and only move forward if connection was successful? –Dirk Trilsbeek Oct 5 '15 at 13:37 @DirkTrilsbeek That is a smart workaround. Would prefer to have it all in one way, but if not possible your suggestion surely gets the job done. Thank you! –Anders Oct 5 '15 at 13:56 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote You can try Check Db connections step in PDI Job. Here you can easily give all the connections that you are using in the job. Finally based on the connection setting, you can define your logic flow. Hope it helps :) share|improve this answer answered Oct 5 '15 at 13:51 Rishu 1,6961724 Interesting! Did not know about that step - wil
