Starting last month, we started seeing the following error on one client, then a week or so later on other clients:quote:Your database engine on computer TIGGER is unavailable. Please makesure that the computer is logged in or that the database service is running. Click retry when the databse service is running. The database service is running fine, and the complete Peachtree app runs fine on the server database engine machine. All other network access seems ok. After a week, I moved the db from a Win2K machine to a clean WinXP machine, and all was well...Until this week.Otherwise, we're running the same config as we have for 6 months. I ran the pervasive systems analyzer from a client system; it says cannot write because of permission error. Of course we have the folder shared. Meanwhile, Friday, another site running Quickbooks on a single machine seemed your database engine to be having a permissions problem with Windows related to some Windows bug. Might this be the problem, or is the problem completely different? Thanks,Ed 05-23-2007 1:44 PM In reply to acmefire1@aol.com Joined on 05-23-2007 Posts 1 Re: "Database Engine Unavailable" error Reply Contact Hi We are a Peachtree Complete Networked version user and we are having the same problem with no other network problems evident. We haven't paid for support from Sage so the only response I've been able to get from them is reinstall or pay for support. Well I tried reinstalling and it didn't work.... so any ideas would be appreciated. 05-23-2007 2:02 PM In reply to ed@edwincjones.com Joined on 03-04-2007 Posts 2 Re: "Database Engine Unavailable" error Reply Contact Matthew,Hmmm, it cannot ba a coincidence that you are the second person today to voice this complaint. Did your Windows update today? When I read this morn's Windows update, I thought it was a fix to the problem which caused this. But, perhaps today's patch made it worse....Anyway, I was able to fix this (last month) by applying some permissions fixes. I just happened to have another problem that week, tried the solution, and we have been good since! Here is the link to the fixhttp://www.quickbooks.com/Helpcenter/DoSearch.aspx?kbid=1003307&product=Good luck!Ed Page 1 of 1 (3 items) 800.287.4383 | Privacy Policy | Terms & Conditions ©
