Dde Error Excel 2007
Excel Fails Added: 08/13/2009, Hits: 12,784, Rating: 0, Comments: 0, Votes: 0 Add To Favorites | Comment dde error sharepoint 2010 on this article Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) is a Windows tool that allows you to set up a communication among different applications. You can use DDE for linking cells of http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_word-mso_win10/dde-error-when-trying-to-do-a-mail-merge-in-word/7a61b0d9-99b3-4129-86e6-b2399008e135 a Microsoft Excel workbook to different values of some other application (for example, Microsoft Word). Thus, when you will change a value in linked application file, it will be automatically reflected in Microsoft Excel workbook. At times, when you cannot successfully link to an Excel workbook, one of prime causes responsible for this behavior could be that the file is corrupted. http://www.techtutorials.net/articles/dde_connection_to_microsoft_excel_fails.html You get errors explaining that DDE could not perform the specific task while connecting to Microsoft Excel. Thus, to reuse such damaged Excel workbook, you will need to use your recent file backup or scan it by using advanced Excel Repair applications. As an example, when you use Dynamic Data Exchange to attach an Excel workbook to be used as a mail-merge data source in Microsoft Word and specify a cell range, you might encounter the below error message: “Word could not re-establish a DDE connection to Microsoft Excel to complete the current task.” Mail-merge is Microsoft Word feature, using which you can create multiple documents with almost identical but with some unique information. An Excel workbook is usually used as a data source if contains the unique information to be included in documents. Cause Word might fail to connect to Excel workbook due to any of the possible reasons: You have selected the Ignore Other Applications check box in Microsoft Excel. You are using a colon to specify the cell range. The Excel workbook is damaged or corrupted.
Word could not re-establish a DDE connection to Microsoft Excel to complete the current task July 25, 2009 I never thought I'd be blogging about Office 2000 (frankly, I don't recall if I would have known what a http://itgroove.net/brainlitter/2009/07/25/word-could-not-re-establish-a-dde-connection-to-microsoft-excel-to-complete-the-current-task/ blog was, back then…). Anyways, this was a strange enough one to resolve today https://support.lincoln.ac.uk/entries/62872339-Adobe-DDE-Error-fix that perhaps it will help someone else (and/or maybe it applied to later versions of Word, Excel and Office).  Our client has Office 2000 and had a Merge defined between Word 2000 and Excel 2000. It *used* to work and then *all of a sudden*, whenever they opened their Word template, they would get the following… dde error Word could not re-establish a DDE connection to Microsoft Excel to complete the current task   The Fix  The problem is (and not obvious, by the error, as shown below) that the Mail Merge feature will not work on the XLS sheet, if there is a filter defined. Any filtering needed, on the Mail Merge, needs to be done within Word and the Mail Merge function, not in advance, in dde connection to Excel. A user had opened the XLS file, set a filter and then saved it with that setting. So, I simply changed the source XLS file to turn the filter off and saved it.   Thus, you need to ensure the ‘source' Excel Worksheet has no filters on columns… I have saved the XLS sheet without the filter applied and it is working again. There are no filters on the spreadsheet. This worked yesterday and last night I added some more rows to the spreadsheet (inserted and then resorted). Not I get the unable to connect error message. Yet I can connect to other excel spreadsheets (same layout) with the same word document with no problem. Somehow Excel must be making some change to the spreadsheet on save that I can not see. Any ideas???? Reply David Bercaw says: April 10, 2012 at 6:54 am Well, I have made progress. I copied the rows of the spreadsheet that would not make connection and pasted them into a new spreadsheet. Saved it and then opened my word document for the mail merge. Selected the new spreadsheet and all wor
resolve this issue, follow the steps below Open Adode Reader – [Start]; [All Programs]; [Adobe Reader] Open Preferences – [Edit]; [Preferences] Disable protected mode – [Security (Enhanced)]; Untick [Enable Protected Mode at startup] Confirm the de-selection – [Yes] Close preferences – [OK] Close Adobe Reader, You will no longer receive ‘DDE’ errors when trying to open PDF documents. Stage 2: If Adobe will not launch The Adobe DDE error fix of disabling Enhanced security protected mode relies on adobe being able to launch… If it cannot launch you cannot apply stage 1 Reset Adobe App data in the users H drive – This is usually in 2 places – Their App data and RDS folders both contain adobe subfolders with Adobe reader data in it… rename these to reader.old for example - You may need to be a little creative in spotting the folders as they appear under different names/Variations There is also a fairly obvious file in the ‘softgridclient’ folder – If this is present rename this as well. I may not be there Once these are renamed, REBOOT the machine - This is important to flush the system This should get adobe working to the state where you can disable protected mode Topic is closed for comments Support Software by Zendesk
