Planning (SAP ERP) SAP ERP Manufacturing - Production Planning (SAP PP) Currently Being Moderated How to analyze an error message in debug created by Caetano Almeida on Mar 6, 2014 2:11 PM, last modified by Caetano Almeida on Nov 4, 2014 1:16 PM Version 6 Tweet Very often an error or warning message is not clear or does not provide the necessary details to find the exact cause of the error.A classic example is the error message 'The date 00.00.0000 is not convertible (please correct)' which can be triggered in several transactions. When this message is https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/893661 triggered by MRP or in transaction MD04, it does not specify exactly what is the planning element for which the error happened.Another typical issue is a custom error message being triggered by an exit or BAdI, but you don't know exactly which exit or BAdI is triggering the message. For such cases, there is a very simple trick to find exactly where http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-53035 the error message is triggered.Lets see a very basic example. I'll get into transaction CO02 and enter a production order that does not exist. The following error message will be triggered:The last three digits are always the message number and the rest is the message ID.When a message is triggered by the system, the message ID is stored on SY-MSGID and the message number is stored on SY-MSGNONow I want to know exactly where this error message is triggered.Open transaction CO02, enter a production order that does not exist on the database. Type '/H' on the command to open debug and press enter.Click the button 'Watchpoint' to create a new watchpoint. You will get the following screen, where you will create a watchpoint for SY-MSGNO, where the value of the variable is '017'. In some cases, you don`t know the message number, so you can leave the condition empty. In such case, system will stop on every message, instead of goig directly to the desired message.Confirm and press F8 to continue with the program execution.System will stop exactly

Unlike with a dump, it can be difficult to find exactly where the problem occured. t thaiat started a topic over 2 years ago Hi,When there is an exception raised in a custom endpoint, could you provide with the line number where the error was thrown in the debug message returned. It would be very usefull, especially if the error occurs in a common script.CheersAvi 3 CommentsOldest FirstPopularNewest FirstSorted by Oldest First M Morgan said over 2 years ago Thanks for that feature request! We haven't added that level of debug info into the BL logging module yet. But I think that’s an awesome idea! In fact, we loved the idea so much we've began working on a broader project to improve UX of BL and debugging / workflow a short time ago. It's a big undertaking though and requires many carefully planned changes. I don't have an ETA from the team behind it yet but from their last update, I'd say some time in Q3'14. D Davide Neri said almost 2 years ago Hello,is there any development about this feature? Is it on the road map for the next future?I was going to post the same feature request before I found this one, cause it would literally save all together hours and hours of work of debugging. Even just by reading at what line an error occurred, or what was the last line processed before the error occurred...Manual debug on async calls is not very easy, especially when even the console doesn't log some things...always because of async dynamics ;) j jpcamara said almost 2 years ago Any update would be great. This has bitten me developing custom endpoints repeatedly - having a line number to reference (preferably a stack trace!) would make the experience so much easier.
