Forums::Forum Archive::Forum ArchivePage 1 of 1•Share• Unable to identify application version..byClean on Sat Jun 01, 2013 1:11 amSo I did some research on the http://www.medianxl.com/t2231-unable-to-identify-application-version error message, but it isn't exactly tailored to my unique situation...any insight is appreciated!I re-installed diablo 2 onto my laptop (fresh copy).I tried to run diablo http://www.diabloii.net/forums/threads/d2-error-diablo-2-is-unable-to-properly-identify-your-application-version.216647/ 2 in order to patch from 1.12 --> 1.13c, but it said it could not identify the version. So, I downloaded an updater, which updated diablo 2 me from 1.12 --> 1.13c. I logged onto my NORMAL Diablo 2 client (normal battle.net aka level 99 ladder reset, etc) and everything worked. I was playing on my sorceress, in game, with other players. Then, I dragged the Median Ultimative patch.mpq file to my Diablo 2 folder (like it said in the unable to identify read-me). Then, I opened Diablo 2 (as administrator), and got the "Welcome to Median Ultimative!" Screen which displays the little "version 1.13" text on the bottom left.*cool! I got it!*Nope, because now I'm getting this message:So, even though I'm updated...I'm not updated?CleanEntPosts : 6Country : Re: Unable to identify application version..byWolfieeifloW on Sat Jun 01, 2013 1:32 amYou updated to 1.13d when you opened Battle.net in regular Diablo II.@WolfieeifloW wrote:Uninstall everythingInstall Diablo IIDownload 1.13cDownload game.exeDelete patch_d2.mpq and game.exe in your Diablo II directoryExtract game.exe out of the downloaded game-lod.zipPlace the extracted game.exe in your Diablo II directoryRun LODPatch_113c.exeDownload D2SEInstall D2SEDownload Ultimative v7Extract Median XL - Ultimative out of the downloaded archivePlace the entire folder Median XL - Ultimative into the MODS folder, in the Diablo II directory???Profit!Or, if you're bad with computers, continuing at 14:Open D2SEIn the middle list, after 1.13c LOD Vanilla it will have a picture that says Median XL UltimativeC
D2 Error: Diablo 2 Is Unable to Properly Identify Your Application Version Discussion in 'Diablo 2 Community Forum' started by Ellis_D._Trails, Jul 3, 2004. | Replies: 6 | Views: 3708 Ellis_D._Trails IncGamers Member Joined: Jun 22, 2003 Messages: 17 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 16 D2 Error: Battle.net Is Unable to Properly Identify Your Application Version Hello all, recently I was encountered with this message when I tried to log on back to Battle.net after being idle for a few hours. I figure the cause might be that I was idle for a few hours, but I'm not so sure. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Solutions? Thanks in advance -Ellis Ellis_D._Trails, Jul 3, 2004 #1 ghoppa12 Banned Joined: Mar 10, 2004 Messages: 30 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 0 yes its happened to me before too. Then I made a new account and it worked again ghoppa12, Jul 3, 2004 #2 Rueter_Reborn IncGamers Member Joined: Jun 27, 2003 Messages: 131 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 26 If you are receiving an error message that says "unable to identify application version", then your game data may have been altered or corrupted in such a way that Battle.net no longer can determine if you need the patch. When you connect to Battle.net, it will check the version of the game you have installed and patch the game to the latest version if necessary. If Battle.net cannot determine the version of the game you are running, then it will not allow you on. Only the latest game version will be able to join Battle.net. First, just to rule out any type of connection problem and to make sure you are not getting a false error message, please try to join Battle.net a few times in a row. Also, make sure you are using the original game CD in your CD-ROM drive. Any programs or patches that allow the game to run without the CD in the CD-ROM drive are not supported and may cause this error. In addition to third-party programs causing this problem, a virus may alter the game data and prevent you from joining Battle.net. Quoted from Blizzard-Support-DiabloII issues.
