2012 by mymce Problem:- I am using Windows 7 Home Premium.Suddenly I am getting the following error within Windows Media Center:- "Display Driver error.The video ceton display driver error protected content playback device does not support playback of protected content." Resolution:- This windows 8.1 media center display driver error problem may be caused by several things:- a>It may be due to audio issue.It can be fixed resetdrm.exe windows 7 by updating the audio driver. Some times Setting up audio output for 5.1 instead of 7.1 in speaker fixes the issue. Some times un-check “Allow applications to take exclusive https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2392252 control of this device.” under the sound advanced properties helps.Open Control Panel> Click on Sound icon > Select your default Sound device > click properties > go the Advanced tab. Disable the S/PDIF if you are outputing audio via HDMI and enable exclusive control and give exclusive mode priority. I also turn off my system sounds and my WMC "sounds" in the settings. Same experience for either Live or Recorded content. I am able to view local channel, unencrypted HD content just fine. I've updated every driver to current (video card, monitor, Ceton, even BIOS with no change in behavior. Why am i not able to view the protected content? The card and monitors are both listed as being HDCP compliant. I'd appreciate some suggestions/resolution as I've been trying to get this to work for months now. oh, I am able to play protected content (live and recorded) over XBOX and Extender just fine - this is only affecting the viewing through the connected computer monitor. Turn off Windows Media Center. See: Turn Windows features on or off c. Enable the explorer
