The source may be the controller or (more probably) a device that is attached to the controller. The hardware problem can be poor cabling, incorrect termination or transfer rate settings, slow device relinquishment of the SCSI bus, a faulty device, or in rare cases, a poorly written device driver. Please go to Device Manger to update the IDE controller driver to check the result. The errors say "The driver detected event id 11 disk the driver detected a controller error a controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort2.". At the same time, transfer rates to the hdd in question became very slow. I ran chkdsk

/f /r - no issues reported. I also ran the SeaTools for Windows tool - no SMART errors, short tests show also no issues. Currently running the check from EASUS Partition Manager - so far everything green, https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/9abb65e1-3020-4409-b83b-276c253b934a/system-eventid-11-atapi-controller-error-on-deviceideideport0-what-kbno-from-windows?forum=w7itprohardware however, at the same time, the errors in the even viewer keep showing up (while EASUS is running surface check and reporting everything as green...) Any ideas, what the problem could be? Thx. That has an online help link which may give you more specific information about the error. Also, could there be another HDD or Device on this IDePort2 that is not being checked, since you mention transfer rates from another device. Check the BIOS to see what is on Port 2. A very good testing program is HD Tune (free edition) or HD Tune Pro, which gives you Disk Health Info, S.M.A.R.T. parameters, and you can test the file data transfer rates across the disk. Here's the link www.hdtune.com And if there is any concern about the controller chip on the MB, rather than the HDD itself, consider downloading the latest chipset drivers from the MB website. Share xxx666yyy777 1 August 2011 10:00:28 Thanks - HDTune did indeed help me solve the problem. It reported a warning related to a SMART factor that could indicate a bad cable. I checked the MB and the cable in question was indeed loose. After resetting it, no more atapi problems! Its a shame that neither the Seagate nor WD tools reported that issue and showed the SMART status always as green... I was surprised to find quite a large number of these messages in the Event Log - System:"The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0\D". Event ID: 11. Source: Diskand"A parity error was detected on \Device\Ide\IdePort0." Event ID: 5. Source: atapiI am using the latest Intell SSD Tool box 3.1.2. Ran "System Tuner" which disabled Prefetch/Superfetch. I do not use Defragmenter on the SSD.I run the "Intel SSD Optimiser" from this tool on the weekly basis. The system information is below: I have come across to this Microsoft technote that suggests to switch to PIO Only Transfer mode for IDE ATA/ATAPI Controller in order to fix that issue: Disk Error 11 and ATAPI Error 5 Using DMA Transfer Mode for ATA66 Hard DiskI am going to try it tonight but I really do not understand how it could fix it.I am worried that my new Intel SSD may be failing or not compatible with stardard itapi driver or SATA controller. I am using pretty standard Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 motherboard with 8 SATA ports (3 GB/s). The SSD is connected into the first (SATAII0) port.I hope that somebody could share their knowledge and help me with that issue. Many thanks in advance,Tech_Art 12774Views Categories: Compatibility, Software & Drivers Tags: none (add) intelContent tagged with intel, ssdContent tagged with ssd, 330Content tagged with 330 This content has been marked as final.
