I have a current version of ANYDVD to avoid the

copy protection and I'm using DVD Shrink to rip and compress. When I try to open the file in DVD Shrink, I get an error message saying: DVD Shrink has encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to read file "D:\" Usually, I would think this was due to a dirty or scratched disc or maybe my DVD drive is dirty, but I have tried it in the dvd shrink encountered an error failed to read file same old DVD drive and also in my brand new external burner. Has anybody else had this problem? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. xtender67, Mar 3, 2007 #1 binkie7 Moderator Staff Member Joined: Feb 12, 2005 Messages: 18,494 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 96 There's a few out there that have the newer Sony protection like this one that Shrink and AnyDVD won't work on. You can do movie only w/ Recode and AnyDVD. Try CloneDVD - AnyDVD companion - not free but has a 21 day free trial. Rip w/ DVDFab Decrypter (free) 1st then open those files in Shrink. link Or RipIt4Me - which uses all free programs like Shrink, Decrypter and FixVTS. link The above ways will work w/ this one. binkie7, Mar 3, 2007 #2 swk Member Joined: Mar 5, 2007 Messages: 4 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 11 This is soooo ironic, it's spooky. I am also an experienced user of DVD Shrink, Decrypter, and am currently running AnyDVD version 6.1.3.0. Have been backing up happily until today when I was backing up the EXACT movie, listed by xtender67 "Stranger Than Fiction". Also today, I have received this error message on another movie "Zoo

Problems with Nero First of all DVD Shrink is a transcoder to shrink movie DVDs, using the Nero engine for automatic burning is just a bonus. Having said that, DVD Shrink works under Vista but Nero only from version 7.x and higher. If you insist on using bloatware but can't get it to work, uninstall both Shrink and Nero and reinstall (not just copy over exes!) Nero before DVD Shrink. After that make sure that Edit > Preferences > File I/O > Enable burning with Nero is checked. If that still doesn't work as well as nothing on this list use free Imgburn which is an advancement of the DVD Decrypter burning engine and uses the same command set. Therefore if want to keep automatic burning and have DVD Decrypter installed on your machine you can copy over 'ImgBurn.exe' and rename it to 'DVDDecrypter.exe' so Shrink uses it with 'ISO Image File and burn with DVD Decrypter' selected as your backup target. Alternatively use the hacked DVD S
dvd-decrpyter, I then use dvd shrink to compress it to dvd-r size. When I press the backup button though, it never has http://forum.doom9.org/archive/index.php/t-71820.html an option to burn it to a dvd-r. I have nero and all it has as an option is "hard disk folder" How would I get dvd shrink to burn it onto http://www.cdrlabs.com/forums/what-doing-wrong-here-t21021.html a dvd-r? Thanks trapvector29th February 2004, 20:22You can't make DVD Shrink burn the files to blank media. That's what Nero (among others) does. Taxious29th February 2004, 22:31So I just use dvd shrink to dvd shrink make another directory with the movie compressed then use a dvd burning program to use those files ? nyplayer29th February 2004, 22:33Taxious Look at DVD Shrink Under.. edit...preferences the file I/o tab make sure Nero is enabled. trapvector29th February 2004, 23:50The version of DVD Shrink I use is 3.0 Beta 5. The process I go through is to decrypt and save to the hard drive, dvd shrink encountered reauthoring if necessary to make the file size under 4.7GB, then burning in Nero. If DVD Shrink incorporated burning in a later version, then I apologise for the misinformation.:) Taxious1st March 2004, 06:10My version of dvd shrink has burning on. That is what I was confused about. It has a little text field that says : Burn with nero to the following device: It will only let me choose hard disk folder, I can't enter a drive letter or anything else... 2COOL1st March 2004, 07:26Originally posted by Taxious It will only let me choose hard disk folder, I can't enter a drive letter or anything else... You can point to which harddrive you want by browsing to your destination folder. It's the next input field down that says "Select target folder for DVD output files:". writersblock291st March 2004, 07:26@Taxious DVD Shrink *should* offer you a choice via a drop-down menu as to where you'd like to burn your files. Even if you can enable Nero for burning, though, you'll still need a file on your hard drive for the processed files to ge into. Check to see if there's a littl

Then I can burn the small DVD's with Roxio (less than 7.4 GB). If it is over 7.4 GB I try to use DVD Shrink 3.2. Well, then I click on "Open Files," choose the folder the ripped files went in, and lick open, and a error message error comes up. It says: "DVD Shrink encountered a error and cannot continue. Failed to open file "C://(filename)/VIDEO_TS.IFO" The systems cannot find the file specified." So I have no clue what I am doing wrong. I originally thought the DVD-R I had were not big enough (120 minute/7.4 GB), but now after looking in the file where the ripped DVD is, it only has two files. The MDS and the ripped file. Anyone know what is going on here or what I am doing wrong? chris_the_fan Buffer Underrun Posts: 9Joined: Fri Jan 06, 2006 6:57 am Top by dodecahedron on Sat Jan 07, 2006 11:01 am since you say there was an MDS file, it seems to me you were running DVD Decrypter in ISO Read mode. yup, just tried opening a DVD i have in ISO form with DVD Shrink, i get the same error message. you need the FILES, not the ISO. so you need to do one of 2 things: 1. run DVD Decrypter in File mode. 2. either run daemon tools or some other utility that let's you emulate a CD/DVD disc and you can mount the .iso file and access the files therein. or use WinRar to extract the files from the .iso file.
