usual. Problems with Nero First of all DVD Shrink is a transcoder to shrink movie DVDs, using the Nero engine for automatic burning is just a bonus. Having said that, DVD Shrink works under Vista but Nero only from version 7.x and higher. If you insist on using bloatware but can't get it to work, uninstall both Shrink and Nero and reinstall (not just copy over exes!) Nero before DVD Shrink. After that make sure that Edit > Preferences > File I/O > Enable burning with Nero is checked. If that still doesn't work as well as nothing on this list use free Imgburn which is an advancement of the DVD Decrypter burning engine and uses the same command set. Therefore if want to keep automatic burning and have DVD Decrypter installed on your machine you can copy over 'ImgBurn.exe' and rename it to 'DVDDecrypter.exe' so Shrink uses it with 'ISO Image File and burn with DVD Decrypter' selected as your backup target. Alternatively use the hacked DVD Shrink with ImgBurn. Of course you can also simply output to ISOs and manu

Until a couple of weeks ago, I could back up dvds with dvd shrink with no problems. Now I get error message saying disc is encrypted. By http://www.dvdshrink.org/support.php using dvd decrypter or dvd fab I can then shrink the files. On my second computer which runs windows xp professional with no updates installed I can still use dvd shrink with no error problems. As a trial I used the same disc in each computer and it works okay in the one and requires decrypting in the other. The only new software I've installed on the main machine is McAfee anti virus and firewall from comcast. I tried uninstalling them and still need to http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/238615-DVD-Shrink-I-O-errors decrypt. Does this make sense to anybody? It's really got me stumped. I know that I can copy using dvd decrypter and DvdFab. What I want to know is why I suddenly have to do it, when in the past I didn't and why I need to do it on one computer but not on the other. Newer DVDs, especially Sony movies that have that crappy ARCoSS protection on them, cannot be ripped by DVDshrink or DVDDecrypter - both of these have been discontinued for some time now and do not handle the newer protection shemes. That's why Budz recommended DVDFab Decrypter, which is still in production and handles these newer protections. If you are talking about the SAME DVD on DIFFERENT computers (which you appear to have tried), and it rips in Shrink on one and not the other, my

Use another DVD movie, and see if you get same error again. If not then you have a damage disk. In my experience this happen only when a DVD is protected, or either the data file (movie,) is somewhat corrupt. Now if DVD is protected you have to use FAB decrypter first copy movie to your hard disk then use DVD Shrink, to copy back to a DVD. Now if DVD has no protection and you still get this error message, then either you have a bad DVD disk, (scratch disk) or the problem is with your DVD burner drive. To see if it's your drive try if possible another PC with same movie and DVD Shrink. In this page you can find some steps too, about your error: http://www.dvdshrink.org/forum/viewtopic...
