shrink will always give me an error when processing it, I've searched the threads and found the scuba pete guide, downloaded DVD decrypter, tried it and failed, cleaned dvd & dvd drives - no luck, even dvd shrink error failed to read file tried something called claddvd to get past it, nothing, my question is are there dvds that can be ripped, I dont think this is a bad disc since I can play or maybe I'm wrong - help? weehawk, Nov 8, 2004 #1 ScubaPete Senior member Joined: Mar 13, 2003 Messages: 6,324 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 116 Hi weehawk, welcome to aD, A "CRC" error is most often caused by bad media dvd shrink error the parameter is incorrect - it could be any of the following: 1. A dirty disc, 2. A scratched disc 3. A poor quality disc (cheap media if it happens during the "Burn" section of your work) 4. A bad disc from the Mfgr. It can also be from a bad optical component in your drive. At this time I don't believe it's your drive at all. If you recently purchased this disc new from a store, I would return it as defective if just cleaning and the proper use of DVD Decrypter doesn't get the job done. I'd like you to check your DVD Decrypter's settings. First, it should be version 3.5.1.0. Go to "Tools", "Settings", set everything to "Default". Then in the "General" tab change, "Removal Method" from "Normal" to "Aggressive", in "File Mode", "tick" Remove PUO's." For ripping in the "ISO Read Mode", "tick" "Remove PUO's" there also. in the "CSS" tab, under "CSS Cracking Method", choose "Brute Force ~> I/O Key Exchange" and "On Failure" choose "Yes". . IMPORTANT: In the "I / O" tab, in the bottom right, "tick" the box which says, "Ignore read errors". This is an excellent setting for dealing with scratched discs which may cause ripping problems. Some people like ripping with DVD Decrypter using the "File" "Mode" BUT, especially for episodel-type DVD's, I fe

Dvd Shrink Encountered An Error Cyclic Redundancy Check
TechSpot Forums Forums Software Apps & Software Today's Posts DVD Shrink 3.2 TroubleShooting Bygjxrbyx Sep 23, 2009 I am having trouble with shrinking a protected movie to burn on a dvd. The error message I'm http://forums.afterdawn.com/threads/dvd-shrink-data-error-cyclic-redundancy-check.321265/ getting is Failed to read file E / Data error cyclic redundancy check. Before I was burning through Drive C with no problems now it will not complete the analysis process. I need to know how to get back to burning or analysing through drive C. When I try to open file C, it says file can not be opened/found. HAve you tried a different disc? Maybe the lens on your reader is dirty, have you tried running a cleaning disc in the dvd burner? Try and rip it with dvddecrypter first, to a folder, then point dvdshrink to the folder. This of course assumes you own the disk.. Sep 24, 2009 #3 captaincranky TechSpot Addict Posts: 11,431 +1,754 Copy protection strategy is updated almost monthly. As a result, neither DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter are able to cope with many current discs. While as SNGX1275 suggests, DVD Decrypter is more potent than DVD Shink, it isn't the answer to issues with many recent discs, and some "failed to read" errors will also be observed when using it. However, DVD Decrypter also possesses the ability to rip a DVD in ISO mode, which comes in handy from time to time. Sep 24, 2009 #4 (You must log in or sign up to reply here.) If there is a problem with the transfer and http://diyvideoeditor.com/fix-vts-tutorial/ the data does not match on both sides, then a cyclic redundancy check error will occur. This can happen in Windows while reading a disc or in any number of programs, including DVD Shrink. Possible causes include a scratched or damaged disc, a faulty optical drive, or the result dvd shrink of trying to back up a copy-protected disc.Things You'll NeedComputer with burn-capable optical driveDVD Shrink softwareDVD to be copiedDisc cleaning kit (optional)Water or rubbing alcohol (optional)Cotton shirt (optional)Step 1Rule out the optical drive (the DVD player on the computer) as the cause of the error by attempting to read other discs with the drive. If you're successful, the drive can be ruled dvd shrink error out as the cause of the CRC error, leaving the disc as the culprit. The disc could be scratched or damaged, or it could've had copy protection against duplication written into it when it was burned. If the optical drive fails to read other discs, then there is likely some problem with the drive itself.Step 2Rule out the surface quality of the disc to be backed up. Even if it looks fine, check to make sure it plays or reads normally outside of DVD Shrink. The DVD could have been incorrectly burned. This happens often with cheaper CD and DVD media; it is rather rare with commercial DVDs. If you can rule out the surface quality of the DVD as a cause for the error, go to step 4. If not, see step 3 for information on attempting to clean the disc.Step 3Clean the faulty disc. It is possible for any amount of scratching, grime or residue to cause read errors. Use a disc cleaning kit, or use water or alcohol and a piece of cotton shirt. Make sure that you wip
very small, free but incredibly powerful utility called “fix VTS” to automatically correct internal errors on a DVD. These errors may cause any number of error messages to appear, all of which are quite meaningless. You may get “invalid DVD navigation,” “disc error,” invalid DVD menu structure,” invalid DVD file structure” or a host of others. If you are getting the “No Disc” error then it is more likely you have a DVD finalization problem in which case you may be better off going back to the home page of this site and going through the topics there. Generally speaking the type of DVD error that Fix VTS will handle will be as a result of the reference files in the DVD (the IFO and BUP files), pointing to parts of the video files (VOB files) that are either in the wrong place or do not exist. This can also cause jumpy or stuttering playback of the DVD or complete freezes while the player is desperately searching around for things that either don’t exist or have been marked as being in the wrong place. Preparation The first step in the process is to click here and download Fix VTS. It is a stand alone utility so there is no need to do any installation step. Just save it to a place on you computer and when you are ready double click the icon and Fix VTS will open. Before getting started it is a good idea to create the working folder for the program first. How and where you do this depends on your computer set-up but for the purposes of this demonstration I created a folder on my C drive called “test” as you can see below. I will be importing/copying an entire DVD to be corrected into this folder. Place the problem DVD into the DVD tray of your computer and select to “Open” the disc. Depending on where the DVD came from you will now have a window open that shows the VIDEO_TS folder of the DVD. Some DVDs may also have an AUD
