Dvd Shrink Cyclic Redundancy Check Error Fix
I have a disc I keep getting errors on, it works perfectly in my stand alone dvd dvd shrink 3.2 mac player, I can also access it with windows media player, but dvd shrink will always give me an error when processing it, I've searched dvd shrink 3.2 download cnet the threads and found the scuba pete guide, downloaded DVD decrypter, tried it and failed, cleaned dvd & dvd drives - no luck, even tried something called claddvd to get past it, nothing, my question is are there dvds that can

be ripped, I dont think this is a bad disc since I can play or maybe I'm wrong - help? weehawk, Nov 8, 2004 #1 ScubaPete Senior member Joined: Mar 13, 2003 Messages: 6,324 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 116 Hi weehawk, welcome to aD, A "CRC" error is most often caused by bad media - it could be any of the following: 1. A dirty disc, 2. A scratched disc 3. A poor quality disc (cheap media if it happens

during the "Burn" section of your work) 4. A bad disc from the Mfgr. It can also be from a bad optical component in your drive. At this time I don't believe it's your drive at all. If you recently purchased this disc new from a store, I would return it as defective if just cleaning and the proper use of DVD Decrypter doesn't get the job done. I'd like you to check your DVD Decrypter's settings. First, it should be version 3.5.1.0. Go to "Tools", "Settings", set everything to "Default". Then in the "General" tab change, "Removal Method" from "Normal" to "Aggressive", in "File Mode", "tick" Remove PUO's." For ripping in the "ISO Read Mode", "tick" "Remove PUO's" there also. in the "CSS" tab, under "CSS Cracking Method", choose "Brute Force ~> I/O Key Exchange" and "On Failure" choose "Yes". . IMPORTANT: In the "I / O" tab, in the bottom right, "tick" the box which says, "Ignore read errors". This is an excellent setting for dealing with scratched discs which may cause ripping problems. Some people like ripping with DVD Decrypter using the "File" "Mode" BUT, especially for episodel-type DVD's, I feel that nothing can beat ripping the DVD using the "ISO", "Read", "Mode". After you've ripped your disc using the "ISO" "Read" "Mode", open DVD Shrink go to File", "Open Disc Image " to locate your ISO image - after allowing DVD Shrink to load up the image, just process it as

check error will occur. This can happen in Windows while reading a disc or in any number of programs, including DVD Shrink. dvd shrink 3.1 download Possible causes include a scratched or damaged disc, a faulty optical drive, or the result of trying to back up a copy-protected disc.Things You'll NeedComputer with burn-capable optical driveDVD Shrink softwareDVD to be copiedDisc cleaning http://forums.afterdawn.com/threads/dvd-shrink-data-error-cyclic-redundancy-check.321265/ kit (optional)Water or rubbing alcohol (optional)Cotton shirt (optional)Step 1Rule out the optical drive (the DVD player on the computer) as the cause of the error by attempting to read other discs with the drive. If you're successful, the drive can be ruled out as the cause of the CRC error, leaving the disc as the culprit. The disc could be scratched or damaged, or it could've had copy protection against duplication https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-fix-a-dvd-shrink-error-cyclic-redundancy-check written into it when it was burned. If the optical drive fails to read other discs, then there is likely some problem with the drive itself.Step 2Rule out the surface quality of the disc to be backed up. Even if it looks fine, check to make sure it plays or reads normally outside of DVD Shrink. The DVD could have been incorrectly burned. This happens often with cheaper CD and DVD media; it is rather rare with commercial DVDs. If you can rule out the surface quality of the DVD as a cause for the error, go to step 4. If not, see step 3 for information on attempting to clean the disc.Step 3Clean the faulty disc. It is possible for any amount of scratching, grime or residue to cause read errors. Use a disc cleaning kit, or use water or alcohol and a piece of cotton shirt. Make sure that you wipe against the tracks and not with them; wiping with the tracks can cause further damage.Step 4Having determined that the cause of the error lies in neither the drive nor the disc itself, there remains only one possibility: the cause of the error is the disc's encryption, or copy protection, of one type or another (several different types exist).

I guess these few DVD's just have some extra security features http://www.sega-16.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-12016.html that jam up the ripping process! Anyone familiar w/ this problem??? I ALWAYS immediately rip my DVDs and BluRays so that I can play them on the computer and skip the damn commercials. If I want commercials, I'll watch public TV. If you have kids, it's even more imperative that you rip your DVDs and BluRays - the kids WILL destroy any disc you let dvd shrink 3.2 them play within a few days. Normally yes. But I've seen some recent DVD's with improper filesystems, as it shows the DVD as like 90GB in size or something like that, which is impossible. MN12BIRD06-03-2010, 07:56 PMDVD Shrink only has basic (and out dated) DVD decryption built in. Any modern DVD should cause it to halt. You need a separate decrypter like AnyDVD to get around it. AnyDVD will run in the background in between your DVD Drive and software like DVD Shrink. Then as far as DVD Shrink is concerned there is no encryption on the DVD it's ripping. AnyDVD also works with HD-DVD and Bluray and

The reason i back up is i buy my young kids dvds regularly and as you can understand the discs get scratched and gewt sticky fingerprints on them therefore what i do is give them a backup copy and keep the origonal disc safe. Anyway my problem is ive beeen getting errors recently sometimes the burn fails and sometimes i get the error message "cyclic Redundancy error" its only started happening recently and im at a loss as to what the problem is . Does anyone know ? or failing that is there another free program thats as straightforward as dvd shrink? and as reliable as it used to be? could the problem be down to new copy protection tecniques? I really need to solve this as ive just bought three new dvds for my daughter and i dont want them ruined , Thanks in advance for any help Asrock 4coreDual-vsta Core2 duo 4300(1.8ghz)-@ 2.4ghz 2 GB DDR2 Ram 8600GT Win 7 Reply Reply With Quote September 26th, 2005,09:06 AM #2 XKILLR View Profile View Forum Posts View Blog Entries Visit Homepage Member Join Date Sep 2004 Posts 180 There is nothing wrong with your software and there is nothin you can do about it. DVD's are now being slowely equiped with a new protection called rip guard. I used various programs, such as: dvd shrink, dvd decrypter, dvd x copy, to get around it but none work at the time. THe only way to "backup" those dvd's is to rip the video from the disc and then burn the file to a disc. There is a quality loss but is the onlt way for those dvd's at the moment. And that doesnt even work all the time Athlon 64 3200+ s754 OC 2.2GHz/ 1.5 GB PC3200 Ram / BFG 6800 Ultra / Liquid Cooling / 3 LED 80mm case fans / One woop Ass Machine Reply Reply With Quote September 26th, 2005,09:33 AM #3 phenious View Profile View Forum Posts View Blog Entries Visit Homepage Moderator Join Date Oct 2001 Location Winter Park FL Posts 5,334 Try opening the DVD in your software DVD player, get to the middle of the movie and pause.
