If there

is a problem with the transfer and the data does not match on both dvd shrink cyclic redundancy check error fix sides, then a cyclic redundancy check error will occur. This can happen in Windows while reading a disc or in dvd decrypter crc error any number of programs, including DVD Shrink. Possible causes include a scratched or damaged disc, a faulty optical drive, or the result of trying to back up a copy-protected disc.Things You'll NeedComputer with

If you're successful, the drive can be ruled out as the cause of the CRC error, leaving the disc as the culprit. The

disc could be scratched or damaged, or it could've had copy protection against duplication written into it when it was burned. If the optical drive fails to read other discs, then there is likely some problem with the drive itself.Step 2Rule out the surface quality of the disc to be backed up. Even if it looks fine, check to make sure it plays or reads normally outside of DVD Shrink. The DVD could have been incorrectly burned. This happens often with cheaper CD and DVD media; it is rather rare with commercial DVDs. If you can rule out the surface quality of the DVD as a cause for the error, go to step 4. If not, see step 3 for information on attempting to clean the disc.Step 3Clean the faulty disc. It is possible for any amount of scratching, grime or residue to cause read errors. Use a disc cleaning kit, or use water or alcohol and a piece of cotton shirt. Make sure that you wipe against the tracks and not with them; wiping with the tracks can cause further damage.Step 4Having determined that the cause of the error lies in neither the drive nor the di

Problems with Nero First of all DVD Shrink is a transcoder to shrink movie DVDs, using the Nero engine for automatic burning is just a bonus. Having said that, DVD Shrink works under Vista but Nero only from version 7.x and higher. If you insist on using bloatware but can't get it to work, uninstall http://www.dvdshrink.org/support.php both Shrink and Nero and reinstall (not just copy over exes!) Nero before DVD Shrink. After that make sure that Edit > Preferences > File I/O > Enable burning with Nero is checked. If that still doesn't work as well as nothing on this list use free Imgburn which is an advancement of the DVD Decrypter burning engine and uses the same command set. Therefore if want to keep automatic burning and have DVD Decrypter installed on your machine you can copy over 'ImgBurn.exe' and rename it to 'DVDDecrypter.exe' so Shrink uses it with 'ISO Image File and burn with DVD Decrypter' selected as your backup target. Alternatively use the hacked DVD Shrink with ImgBurn. Of course you can also simply output to ISOs and manually add them to ImgBurn's queue. In case your HDD is still formatted with FAT32 instead of NTFS, DVD Shrink will bypass the 4 GB filesize limit automatically by outputting to multipart ISO (.i00, .i01, .i02, .mds) which mds can be burned with ImgBurn. Batch encoding/autoplay/command line Aparently DVD Shrink does not support command line parameters except for opening a DVD so if you wanna use it in your media center without a keyboard use autoplay, cmdDVDShrink or DVD Rip. In case you wanna encode several DVDs in a row unattended use MultiShrink. Problems running DVD Shrink on Vista/Win 7 DVD Shrink apparently works on Vista/Win 7, however some people have reported pr

The error message I'm getting is Failed to read file E / Data error cyclic redundancy check. Before I was burning through Drive C with no problems now it will not complete the analysis process. I need to know how to get back to burning or analysing through drive C. When I try cyclic redundancy check to open file C, it says file can not be opened/found. Maybe the lens on your reader is dirty, have you tried running a cleaning disc in the dvd burner? Sep 23, 2009 #2 SNGX1275 TS Forces Special Posts: 10,689 +395 That will happen on some disks even if they are perfect, I always attributed it to a form of copy protection dvdshrink can't deal with. Try and rip it with dvddecrypter first, to a folder, then point dvdshrink to the folder. This of course assumes you own the disk.. As a result, neither DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter are able to cope with many current discs. While as SNGX1275 suggests, DVD Decrypter is more potent than DVD Shink, it isn't the answer to issues with many recent discs, and some "failed to read" errors will also be observed when using it. However, DVD

I am allowed to make a backup copy for personal use aren't I??? The kids favourite DVD at the moment is "Babe", but they are literally loving it to death. 3 year olds love to do stuff by themselves (including load the DVD player), but they have no idea how to treat a DVD properly. I tried to back it up with DVDShrink but the program halts mid-backup with a CRC error, and won't complete the job - probly because of a fingerprint or scratch. However the DVD plays fine all the way through when watching it. How can I back it up? __________________ Hopeless, helpless and mostly harmless Last edited by wot?; 13th April 2009 at 9:52 AM. NOTE: deep gouges on the dvd wont be fixed by above. only dirt and finger prints. __________________ Originally Posted by Randy_Chuggs - I just get down on all fours and suck it out Originally Posted by Subcommandante - Who are DVDA? Clean the disk surface and try to back it up in other dvd drives as they all handle media with errors differently. The disk may benefit from a buff (as they do in the video shop), but it theres a chance it could make it worse.
