If there is a problem with the dvd shrink encountered an error cyclic redundancy check transfer and the data does not match on both sides, then a cyclic redundancy check dvd shrink encountered an error the parameter is incorrect error will occur. This can happen in Windows while reading a disc or in any number of programs, including DVD Shrink. dvd shrink encountered an error and cannot continue the parameter is incorrect Possible causes include a scratched or damaged disc, a faulty optical drive, or the result of trying to back up a copy-protected disc.Things You'll NeedComputer with burn-capable optical driveDVD Shrink softwareDVD to be copiedDisc cleaning kit dvd shrink encountered an error failed to read file (optional)Water or rubbing alcohol (optional)Cotton shirt (optional)Step 1Rule out the optical drive (the DVD player on the computer) as the cause of the error by attempting to read other discs with the drive. If you're successful, the drive can be ruled out as the cause of the CRC error, leaving the disc as the culprit. The disc could be scratched or damaged, or it could've had copy protection against duplication written

into it when it was burned. If the optical drive fails to read other discs, then there is likely some problem with the drive itself.Step 2Rule out the surface quality of the disc to be backed up. Even if it looks fine, check to make sure it plays or reads normally outside of DVD Shrink. The DVD could have been incorrectly burned. This happens often with cheaper CD and DVD media; it is rather rare with commercial DVDs. If you can rule out the surface quality of the DVD as a cause for the error, go to step 4. If not, see step 3 for information on attempting to clean the disc.Step 3Clean the faulty disc. It is possible for any amount of scratching, grime or residue to cause read errors. Use a disc cleaning kit, or use water or alcohol and a piece of cotton shirt. Make sure that you wipe against the tracks and not with them; wiping with the tracks can cause further damage.Step 4Having determined that the cause of the error lies in neither the drive nor the disc itself, there remains only one possibility: the cause of the error is the disc's encryption, or copy protection, of one type or another (several different types exist). I ALWAYS immediately rip my DVDs and BluRays so that I can play them on the computer and skip the damn commercials. If I want commercials, I'll watch public TV. If you have kids, it's even more imperative that you rip your DVDs and BluRays - the kids WILL destroy any disc you let them play within a few http://www.sega-16.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-12016.html days. Normally yes. But I've seen some recent DVD's with improper filesystems, as it shows the DVD as like 90GB in size or something like that, which is impossible. MN12BIRD06-03-2010, 07:56 PMDVD Shrink only has basic (and out dated) DVD decryption built in. Any modern DVD should cause it to halt. You need a separate decrypter like AnyDVD to get around it. AnyDVD will run in the background in between your DVD Drive and software like DVD Shrink. Then as far as DVD Shrink is concerned there is no encryption on the DVD it's ripping. AnyDVD also works with HD-DVD and Bluray and it will not only get rid of any encryption/CR

Dvd Shrink - Data Error : Cyclic Redundancy Check Started by spaceship9 , Jan 05 2008 03:52 PM Please log in to reply 1 reply to this topic #1 spaceship9 spaceship9 Members 47 posts OFFLINE Local time:10:52 AM Posted 05 January 2008 - dvd shrink encountered 03:52 PM I have DVD Shrink (latest) and I use it to make backups of (legally purchased) DVDs so the originals don't get damaged...So far I haven't had any errors with anything, with the exception of a largely scratched disk once... until nowI tried to backup "Inside Man" and it gets to around 2-4% (entire non-compressed disk backup, naturally) but then gives me DVD shrink has encountered an error and can not continue Fail to read file E:\ Data Error (cyclic redundancy check)I've searched around and it turns to either be a bad/scratched disk or a new security measure...The disk is brand new with no scratches, finger prints or anything on it, and the movie played with no errors or bad frames (as far as I noticed) in DVD X Player (on computer) and on a sony DVD player (tv).I've seen people try with success using DVD Decrypter but when i tried, I got errors once again...so I'm fairly certain it's a security measure (seeing as the drive is only a few days old and plays/backs-up anything else fine)...Any ideas? Cyclic redundacy errer means it can't read the disc. sometimes it is only a simple thumbprint ruining it for you. Also try a proggy called DVD decryptorwww.afterdawn.com/softwa...vd_decrypter.cfmThat will get you the vob files onto your hard drive and let DVDShrink use them from there. If DVD decryptor can't rip it nothing can and the disc might be scratched too much.RegardsSparkie User #85512 6958 posts |g00nster| Whirlpool Forums Addict reference: whrl.pl/R1zxN posted 2006-Nov-3, 7:58 pm ref: whrl.pl/R1zxN posted 2006-Nov-3, 7:58 pm 1. the disc is dirty, or,2. its got fake sectors put in it (copy protection)solutions.1. clean the disc2. rip the movie with dvd Decrypter and open with dvd shrink User #140196 14923 posts camerooney Whirlpool Forums Addict reference: whrl.pl/R1zHd posted 2006-Nov-3, 8:48 pm ref: whrl.pl/R1zHd posted 2006-Nov-3, 8:48 pm Sometimes it can be a combination of bad media e.g. poor quality dvds and also errors on the original itself. I had a disc I was trying to shrink, it came up with the same error. After trying the normal things eg. cleaned disc etc. the problem still persisted. I watched the dvd and found out that about half way through the dvd it started to muck up. It was actually a bad section on the dvd itself. Try this link: forum.digital-digest.com...=&threadid=44907 It has some really good advice. I think for the particular dvd I ended up using RiptIt4Me and it worked like a charm.(It actually just cut out the bad section..which was like 2 mins of the full dvd..) Hope this helps.
