trouble handling the newer releases. Try ripping with DVDFab HD Decrypter, it is free and updated often to handle the newer encryptions. You can then process your files from your HDD using DVD Shrink to get them down to DVD 5 size. Also, you are not by chance using IE 8 are you? As this is known to cause conflicts and errors in the process. What format are they in? And one of the most important is what media are you burning to? Your original question had to do with invalid file name, has that been solved? ferguj1, Dec 26, 2008 #

have opened a normal AUDIO_TS/Video_TS structure in Shrink, then re authored it to contain only the main title. However, when I create an ISO, the file created has http://forum.doom9.org/archive/index.php/t-141171.html a WinRAR icon against it when displayed in Windows Explorer! I have tried http://www.dvdshrink.org/support.php changing the file association for ISOs to VLC player, but the resulting ISO files still show the WinRAR icon! Shrink automatically burned this file to a DVD which now won't play (although when I insert the DVD in the PC, the film plays fine!). I usually create an ISO, check it then first dvd shrink then burn it with Nero, so I need to stop this from happening, too. Also, Shrink won't accept a filename longer than the 8.3 format. If I try anything longer, it tells me it's an invalid filename. Can anyone offer any advioce as to how I might deal with these three problems? Thanks in advance. Pete setarip_old16th September 2008, 15:58Hi! 1) File Association is a dvd shrink encountered function of Windows - Not a "problem with DVD Shrink" 2) If, as you say, your burned DVD plays properly on your PC but not on your standalone player, this is obviously a media quality, media compatibility, burn speed, or standalone player problem - Not a "problem with DVD Shrink" PeteRooney16th September 2008, 16:34Sorry if I inferred that the problems were with Shrink itself - I just wanted to know how to get around them. This is the first time I've used Shrink on this particular laptop - I've just taken the DVD that it burned and Shrink on my desktop has read it fine and created an ISO with the correct icon in EXplorer (in this case VLC media player). The media is Verbatim and I'm 2/3 of the way down the spindle and haven't had any adverse effects with any of the others with my standalone player. And on my current machine, I have just created an ISO (from the files on the laptop burned DVD that won't play on the DVD player) with 10 characters in the filename - I couldn't create one with more than 8 characters on the laptop, sugges

Click here to optimize your system performance and have it ready for DVD Shrink! Decryption problems/new copy protections Since development of DVD Shrink has been stopped in 2005 it cannot circumvent current copy protections schemes which may manifest in these errors/error messages: Movie playback starts in between or at the end and/or chapters do not playback in order Invalid File Structure Invalid Navigation Structure Out of memory Programming error - Exception occurred Parameter Incorrect Data Redundancy Check Error (CRC Error) The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error To remove such protections do a complete backup of such media to your HDD with (use Google): DVDFab HD Decrypter (free trial) AnyDVD (free trial) and then use Shrink to encode it as usual. Problems with Nero First of all DVD Shrink is a transcoder to shrink movie DVDs, using the Nero engine for automatic burning is just a bonus. Having said that, DVD Shrink works under Vista but Nero only from version 7.x and higher. If you insist on using bloatware but can't get it to work, uninstall both Shrink and Nero and reinstall (not just copy over exes!) Nero before DVD Shrink. After that make sure that Edit > Preferences > File I/O > Enable burning with Nero is checked. If that still doesn't work as well as nothing on this list use free Imgburn which is an advancement of the DVD Decrypter burning engine and uses the same command set. Therefore if want to keep automatic burning and have DVD Decrypter installed on your machine you can copy over 'ImgBurn.exe' and rename it to 'DVDDecrypter.exe' so Shrink uses it with 'ISO Image File and burn with DVD Decrypter' selected as your backup target. Alternatively use the hacked DVD Shrink with ImgBurn. Of course you can also simply output to ISOs and manually add them to ImgBurn's queue. In case your HDD is still formatted with FAT32 instead of NTFS, DVD Shrink will bypass the 4 GB filesize limit automatically by outputting to multipart ISO (.i00, .i01, .i02, .mds) which mds can be burned with ImgBurn. Batch encoding/autoplay/command line Aparently DVD Shrink does not support command line parameters except for opening a DVD so if you w
