A dirty disc, 2. A scratched disc 3. A poor quality disc (cheap media if it happens during the "Burn" section of your work) 4. A bad disc from the Mfgr. It can also be from a bad optical component in your drive. At this time I don't believe it's your drive at all. If you recently purchased this disc new from a store, I would return it as defective if just cleaning and the proper use of DVD Decrypter doesn't get the job done. I'd like you to check your DVD Decrypter's settings. First, it should be version 3.5.1.0. Go to "Tools", "Settings", set everything to "Default". Then in the "General" tab change, "Removal Method" from "Normal" to "Aggressive", in "File Mode", "tick" Remove PUO's." For ripping in the "ISO Read Mode", "tick" "Remove PUO's" there also. in the "CSS" tab, under "CSS Cracking Method", choose "Brute

Are the original dvd's retail store bought (pressed) ? Dvd Shrink is waaaaay old and has not been updated to deal with newer copy protections in YEARS as far as ripping is concerned!!!! If you are cyclic redundancy check trying to open and rip them from your drive with Dvd Shrink that is probably your problem. Newer copy protections for pressed retail dsic's is updated many times a year. Rip with something that is updated on a regular basis to deal with newer copy protections like dvdfab decrypter then open with dvd shrink to transcode to fit on a SL dvdr. I guess what I need to know is... do I use the HD Decrypter to burn the main movie to the HD and then use DVD Shrink and then burn or write it from there to a DVD blank disc ? I don't drink, but after reading this post I understand why you would think I was Noahtuck. I sometimes have a hard time explaining my problem, but sometimes these Bill Gates on here throw so much crap out there it is very confusing. I will lay off the booze! LOL! The error message I'm getting is Failed to read file E / Data error cyclic redundancy check. Before I was burning through Drive C with no problems now it will not complete the analysis process. I need to know how to get back to burning or analysing through drive C. When I try to open file C, it says file can not be opened/found. Sep 23, 2009 #1 strategic TechSpot Paladin Posts: 1,020 "cyclic redundancy check" usually is caused from bad media. HAve you tried a different disc? Maybe the lens on your reader is dirty, have you tried running a cleaning disc in the dvd burner? Sep 23, 2009 #2 SNGX1275 TS Forces Special Posts: 10,689 +395 That will happen on some disks even if they are perfect, I always attributed it to a form of copy protection dvdshrink can't deal with. Try and rip it with dvddecrypter first, to a folder, then point dvdshrink to the folder. This of course assumes you own the disk.. Sep 24, 2009 #3 captaincranky TechSpot Addict Posts: 11,431 +1,754 Copy protection strategy is updated almost monthly. As a result, neither DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter are able to cope with many current discs. While as SNGX1275 suggests, DVD Decrypter is more potent than DVD Shink, it isn't the answer to issues with many recent discs, and some "failed to read" errors will also be observed when using it. However, DVD Decrypter also possesses the ability to rip a DVD in ISO mode, which comes in handy from time to time. Sep 24, 2009 #4 (You must log in or sign up to reply here.)
