downloaded DVD decrypter, tried it and failed, cleaned dvd & dvd drives - no luck, even tried something called claddvd to get past it, nothing, my question is are there dvds that can be ripped, I dont think this is a bad disc since I can play or maybe I'm wrong - help? weehawk, Nov 8, 2004 #1 ScubaPete Senior member Joined: Mar dvd decrypter cnet 13, 2003 Messages: 6,324 Likes Received: 0 Trophy Points: 116 Hi weehawk, welcome to aD, A "CRC" error is most often caused by bad media - it could be any of the following: 1. A dirty disc, 2. A scratched disc 3. A poor quality disc (cheap media if it happens during the "Burn" section of your work) 4. A bad disc from the Mfgr. It can also be from a bad optical component in your drive. At this time I don't believe it's your drive at all. If you recently purchased this disc new from a store, I would return it as defective if just cleaning and the proper use of DVD Decrypter doesn't get the job done. I'd like you to check your DVD Decrypter's settings. First, it should be version 3.5.1.0. Go to "Tools", "Settings", set everything to "Default". Then in the "General" tab change, "Removal Method" from "Normal" to "Aggressive", in "File Mode", "tick" Remove PUO's." For ripping in the "ISO Read Mode", "tick" "Remove PUO's" there also. in the "CSS" tab, under "CSS Cracking Method", choose "Brute Force ~> I/O Key Exchange" and "On Failure" choose "Yes". . Member Join Date Sep 2003 Location U.K. Posts 239 DVD Shrink cyclic redundancy error Ive been using dvd shrink for quite a while to backup anydvd my dvds (version 3.2 ) I dont pirate discs before ppl start flaming me. The reason i back up is i buy my young kids dvds regularly and as you can understand the discs get scratched and gewt sticky fingerprints http://forums.afterdawn.com/threads/dvd-shrink-data-error-cyclic-redundancy-check.321265/ on them therefore what i do is give them a backup copy and keep the origonal disc safe. Anyway my problem is ive beeen getting errors recently sometimes the burn fails and sometimes i get the error message "cyclic Redundancy error" its only started happening recently and im at a loss as to what the problem is . Does anyone know ? or failing that is there another free program thats as straightforward as dvd shrink? and as reliable as it http://www.techimo.com/forum/pc-hardware/152560-dvd-shrink-cyclic-redundancy-error.html used to be? could the problem be down to new copy protection tecniques? I really need to solve this as ive just bought three new dvds for my daughter and i dont want them ruined , Thanks in advance for any help Asrock 4coreDual-vsta Core2 duo 4300(1.8ghz)-@ 2.4ghz 2 GB DDR2 Ram 8600GT Win 7 Reply Reply With Quote September 26th, 2005,09:06 AM #2 XKILLR View Profile View Forum Posts View Blog Entries Visit Homepage Member Join Date Sep 2004 Posts 180 There is nothing wrong with your software and there is nothin you can do about it. DVD's are now being slowely equiped with a new protection called rip guard. I used various programs, such as: dvd shrink, dvd decrypter, dvd x copy, to get around it but none work at the time. THe only way to "backup" those dvd's is to rip the video from the disc and then burn the file to a disc. There is a quality loss but is the onlt way for those dvd's at the moment. And that doesnt even work all the time Athlon 64 3200+ s754 OC 2.2GHz/ 1.5 GB PC3200 Ram / BFG 6800 Ultra / Liquid Cooling / 3 LED 80mm case fans / One woop Ass Machine Reply Reply With Quote September 26th, 2005,09:33 AM #3 phenious View Profile View Forum Posts View Blog Entries Visit Homepage Moderator Join Date Oct 2001 Location Winter Park FL

Several movies pop up with "data cyclic redundancy error" when trying to rip with DVDshrink. Some other movies, just don't even pull up the files at all. Then there is some where it dvd shrink pulls up a huge list under "main movies" but none of them work or will rip. I don't know what to do to get them to rip. I've tried DVD Decrypter, but it just keeps popping up an I/O error saying "unrecovered read error". I've even tried DVD43 in conjuction with DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink, with no luck. What solution would you recommend that will actually work? Koby View Public Profile Visit Koby's homepage! Although each of the programs you've mentioned continue to prove to be useful/usable with many DVDs, they are fairly old and as a consequence, there are many DVDs these programs CANNOT properly process. Try (freeware version) DVDFabHD Decrypter (Yes, it works with standard DVDs) setarip_old View Public Profile Find More Posts by setarip_old 28th February 2010, 10:57 #4 |Link Koby Registered User Join Date: Feb 2010 Posts: 10 I tried DVDFabHD, and all it did was sit there saying opening video, but it never did.
