You can also try the trial version of AnyDVD to work in the background and then use Shrink. If the disk is dirty and cleaning allows you to copy disk successfully then fine problem solved. If not and then by using Decrypter you can copy disk okay, then at least you'll know it is the CSS stopping Shrink doing the copying. Use the latest version of Decrypter, Shrink will copy most not all films, and will struggle more as time goes on, as there is unlikely to be any more updates, as the writer is now working for Nero. You can also try DVD Region + CSS free to work along side Shrink. webhedreg, May 17, 2005 #4 (You must log in or sign up to reply here.) Until a couple of weeks ago, I could back up dvds with dvd shrink with no problems. Now I get error message saying disc is http://forums.afterdawn.com/threads/dvd-shrink-problem-i-o-device-error.361765/ encrypted. By using dvd decrypter or dvd fab I can then shrink the files. On my second computer which runs windows xp professional with no updates installed I can still use dvd shrink with no error problems. As a trial I used the same disc in each computer and it works okay in the one and requires decrypting in the other. The only new software I've installed on the main machine is McAfee anti virus and firewall from comcast. I tried uninstalling them http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/238615-DVD-Shrink-I-O-errors and still need to decrypt. Does this make sense to anybody? It's really got me stumped. I know that I can copy using dvd decrypter and DvdFab. What I want to know is why I suddenly have to do it, when in the past I didn't and why I need to do it on one computer but not on the other. Newer DVDs, especially Sony movies that have that crappy ARCoSS protection on them, cannot be ripped by DVDshrink or DVDDecrypter - both of these have been discontinued for some time now and do not handle the newer protection shemes. That's why Budz recommended DVDFab Decrypter, which is still in production and handles these newer protections. If you are talking about the SAME DVD on DIFFERENT computers (which you appear to have tried), and it rips in Shrink on

The process has recently taken a turn for the worse however, and I've only been successful on 1 out of my past 8 burns or so, losing the disc in the process. The process gets to 100% complete and then I get an I/O error. My DVD drive then stops working, and I have to restart the computer for it to be found again. The image file I tried to burn today is one that I have successfully burned before. I noticed that the Cache drops to 0% before this error occurs, and hovers around 97% during the burn process, not sure if this is normal. I've tried using laser lens cleaners (discs with brushes), and I've also made sure that I have the latest drive firmware. Here's the log, any ideas? (I is the
