No luck. am11 commented Aug 31, 2014 Please read the contribution guidelines for bug reports: https://github.com/madskristensen/WebEssentials2013/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md#bug-reports SLsergeyg commented Sep 1, 2014 I have installed the Windows 8.1 and VS2013 Update the snmp service encountered an error 3. Then have Installed the latest version of the WebEssentials (2.3). After couple of days any opened JS file of any project causes the provided error. Fix: disabling\uninstalling the extension and removing the "extensions.en-US.cache" and "extensionSdks.en-US.cache" files from the AppData\Local\Microsoft\VisualStudio\12.0\Extensions\ folder. SLsergeyg commented Sep 2, 2014 Today I have found one solution with 2 projects: ASP.NET WebAPI and ASP.NET MVC where I don't have the issue. Problem projects use: angular, jquery and bootstrap packages Than I have run the second copy of the VS with normal solution (where I haven't see the error) after the problem one and I Have seen the issue there too. Now I see error everywhere, even single VS instance with normal solution. I can provide the TeamViewer access to review the problem. (Tried Suggested links) up vote 2 down vote favorite Since updating Visual Studio 2013, (Update 2) I keep receiving https://github.com/madskristensen/WebEssentials2013/issues/1462 this error message: The JavaScript language has encountered an error and has been shut down. Please save your changes, exit, and restart Visual Studio. This error occurs on old and new projects, and researching into it i dont seem to be getting anywhere. I have tried the obvious (stated in the error message) but this occurs each time i load up a javascript window. I insalled app builder shortly after (Telerik) which also may have caused an issue, im http://stackoverflow.com/questions/26839472/the-javascript-language-has-encountered-an-error-and-has-been-shut-down-tried still looking at it myself but would appreciate any suggestions cheers for any help javascript visual-studio visual-studio-2013 share|improve this question edited Nov 10 '14 at 8:26 asked Nov 10 '14 at 8:20 Crezzer7 9101524 Do you use Resharper or Web Essentials 2013, perhaps? –Ruud Lenders Apr 14 '15 at 10:48 i have them both :) Visual Studio had a corrupt file, unfortunately had no option but to remove it all and re-install –Crezzer7 Apr 14 '15 at 11:21 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted not the best answer but it worked for me... I had to completely remove Visual Studio 2013 (along with the Visual Studio 2013 folder in Documents) and reinstall it. uninstalled Visual Studio 2013 Update 2, and installed Visual Studio 2013 Update 4. Hope this helps anyone in need of it. but please note that uninstalling and re-installing this software takes around 2-3 hours on some machines share|improve this answer answered Nov 13 '14 at 9:46 Crezzer7 9101524 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote I installed Visual Studio 2015 today and i faced also same error. Join them; it only takes a minute: Sign up JavaScript Files encountered a Crash Visual Studio. Clearing “_refenences.js” fix the issue up vote 0 down vote favorite Recently, when I open a JavaScript file on my solution (or open a razor CSHTML with some JavaScript on it), in Visual Studio 2013, after a while I get the error "The JavaScript language service has encountered an error and has been shut down" and I loose code highlighting and encountered an error coloring for javascript. In VS2015 Pro, the issue is more drastic as the whole Visual Studio crashes and wants a restart. I saw a similar problem for VS2013 in this thread, but didn't help me. Now following this thread, I cleared my _references.js file. This works. I have no problems if I do this (as far as I can tell) - I even have intellisense. However, when I right click and Update Javascript References, it looks like VS2013 keeps working fine but VS2015 starts crashing again. I would like to use VS2015. My question is, would there be any side effects to cleaning the contents of this file _references.js? why would this happen in the first place? Is there any other fix other than manually deleting the contents of this auto-generated file? The extensions on my Visual Studio 2013 Professional installation are Web Essentials, Resharper 9 and Telerik. I have a relatively clean installation of Visual Studio 2015 Professional, with only ReSharper 10 on it. javascript visual-studio-2013 crash visual-studio-2015 references.js share|improve this question asked Nov 18 '15 at 8:43 A. While waiting to see if it is a server issue, I would verify the settings.Good luck and welcome to the forum.Hunt Like Show 0
