After creating the datasource with both SQL Server and Sql Server Native client drivers and specifying authentication mode as windows, thereare checkboxes for tables,Stored Procedures and views.I checked them all.when select all tables and views and click on finish on te reverse engineering wizard.I get the following errors for views - 'There is no text for object (followed by ViewName)' This happens for some views and another error 'Encountered Fatal error ' shows up.when I click on Ok.I can see some of the views in visio's Tables and views window. Is there something I am doing wrong since this happens only for views.when I choose to reverse engineer only the tables and Stored Procedures there are no errors . Also, is there an option to see only names of the Views a table is associated with? Please find the steps I followed here: 1)Opened visio 2010,selected Database Model template and clicked on database Ribbon. 2)Selected Reverse Engineer. 3)On the reverse Engineer wizard, under set up selected Microsoft Sql server driver. 4)clicked on 'New'to Configure a new datasource.Selected System data source, selected Sql server driver, clicked on next, clicked Finish on next screen.Entered a name for data source and server name, clicked on next.Selected windows authentication . 5)checked all the checkboxes

Re: Reverse engineer with Visio APC Nov 10, 2005 9:14 AM (in response to 451263) I don't think this link is at all useful to the OP because it doesn't go into technical details which is what they want. However, it was helpful to be because I was wondering where the data modelling functions had gone; I now realise that my current machine only has Visio Standard on it and I need the Professional edition. sigh Cheers, APC Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. Re: Reverse engineer with Visio APC Nov 10, 2005 9:16 AM (in response to 200334) Were you able to reverse engineer UDT definitions from Oracle 9i? Wow, I didn't realise Visio was that good. Cheers
