Dvd Player Encountered A System Error Mac
A: I have the same configuration as dog.toy.tough, and encountered the same problem trying to use DVD player & Airplay. I then tried viewing the same DVD with "MPlayerX" and it worked flawlessly! I don't really understand what Rudegar is saying about encryption, and it would be great to be able to use the native apple DVD player some day ... but in the meantime I will continue to use MPlayerX. It's free and you can download it from dvd player encountered an error it could not recover from the App Store. In this article, I will show you how to immediately stream DVDs to your Apple TV with http://streaming-blog.com/watching-dvd-apple-tv-airplay/ the help of AirPlay Mirroring. The problem with DVDs and Apple TV Many people have a lot of DVDs (technically, the specification is called DVD-Video). You probably know the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders with the VOB files. The problem is: This format is not compatible with your Apple TV and can’t be streamed directly via AirPlay. So you have to re-encode it first (for instance with Handbrake, an open source video transcoder). The Drawbacks are obvious: Beside the legal issues (possibly breaking DRM) you can’t start immediately to watch because the re-encoding takes some time, needs software & know-how and eventually some space on your hard disc. Playing DVDs with AirPlay Mac with DVD drive Here’s my hardware. Just a common Macbook Pro with the Superdrive (an external USB CD/DVD drive). But you can use any another Mac with DVD drive, as long as it is compatible with AirPlay Mirroring (Mac requirements for AirPlay Mirroring). Apple DVD Player Software won’t work The first thing that comes into your mind is probably using the DVD Player Software that usually opens when you insert a DVD. But this won’t work and will just show you the error message “The viewer could not be moved to selected screen.” Why? Seems like a copyright thing that it’s just not legally allowed and therefore suppressed by Apple. A
3 while getting some work done. By mistake I ended up hitting the "title" button and was greeted with the following error message. "DVD Player encountered a system error, -69889″ After doing some google'ing and some Apple - Support http://vanlandw.com/archives/178 - Discussions searches this thread was all I could find regarding that error.Personally I don't think http://www.mactalk.com.au/14/62975-dvd-player-app-wont-play-dvds.html it's an issue with my DVD drive. VLC was able to play my DVD fine. Moreover I tried rebooting and deleting the file com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist in ~/Library/Preferences. My disk was also clean.Anybody else have any ideas? I'll post a screen shot when I get a chance of the error and if I find a solution I'll post it also. UPDATE: Today I came home encountered a and installed some software and ended up doing another reboot thus clearing up this issue. Hopefully this issue was just a one shot deal but I would consider this a resolved issue. This has only started happening today, I want to watch a DVD on my iMac, and DVD Player wont play it. I've tried different DVDs and I've also tried playing the movies from Video_TS folders on my HDD, still, it wont play. DVD Player will play a few seconds, then the video and audio will stop and freeze. If I try to click stop, or anything else i get a "Not Permitted" bubble appear, and if I click Pause I get a message "DVD Player has encountered a system error. Error -69889" I've tried totally removing DVD Player, its plist's, and folders and restoring a old versions from Time Machine. Still, nothing works. This also happens in Front Row. UPDATE: VLC does not play the DVDs either. Please help. Heres the link to a short video screencast that shows exactly what happens: http://j0wkcw.blu.livefilestore.com/...1.mov?download Last edited by iryan; 20th April 2009 at 04:24 PM.
