Mysql Error 0 Cannot Start Service
MySQL installations when using the MySQL "Server Instance Configuration Wizard" indicates that the MySQL Wizard was unable to install, start or configure the new server you are attempting to setup. We find "Error 0" commonly occurs when error 0 mysql there is a previous installation of MySQL on a Windows machine, or even hidden file remnants of an earlier MySQL installation. It is easy to conclude that a previous installation of MySQL has been completely expunged from your system, but one has to maniacally hunt down and extirpate all old configuration and data files before the MySQL Server Instance Configuration Wizard will install a new MySQL database and start the Windows MySQL service. We recommend mysql server instance configuration wizard could not start the service that you try the these steps if you see this error. One user found that the following worked. We suggest trying this first. 1. Cancel the configuration step. (If you haven't already). 2. Go back to the configuration wizard on the program list (newly installed.) Follow the "reconfigure" option. 3. Uncheck the "modify security settings" box and reconfigure without changing the password. Make sure the password is blank. 4. When you click "finish" on the final screen, the service fails to start. Click "cancel" and restart the configuration wizard. Reconfigure in the same way as before, but check the "modify" security settings" box and leave the "current password" field blank and fill in and confirm a new password. This time the service starts, security settings are applied, and MySQL works… hopefully. In house, we found the following was successful. 1. Cancel the configuration step. (If you haven't already.) 2. Start up the configuration wizard. Delete the previous instance. This will close the configuration wizard. 3. Start up the configuration wizard again. Create a new instance. Usually this step will work and you are done. For Windows XP, 1. Run the MySQL Server Instance Configuration Wizard which is installed in the MySQL Program Files subdirectory. If the second Wizard window presents the option to "Remove Instance" choose that and then click NEXT

Configuration For Mysql Server Has Failed
Incidentally Win XP Service Pack 2 installing MySQL 5.1.31 MSI. Seems like the non msi MySQL 4.1 installer doesn't have this problem. MY SOLUTION (Take UNLOADS and BACKUPS of data files/dirs if you need to. http://specifyx.specifysoftware.org/i-get-this-error-when-trying-to-install-mysql-error0-cannot-create-windows-service-for-mysql/ This is a full re-install) My solution was to get rid of all the profile application data. So ensure that you - uninstall the instance (including server) using instance configuration wizard, (in C:\Program Files\MySQL\My SQL Server 5.1\bin\MySQLInstanceConfig.exe), choosing remove. - now remove MySQL via Control Panel->add/remove programs, may need to F5 refresh list if not there. - make sure MySQL dir in C:\Program Files is now deleted in its http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?11,19373,246717 entirety. There may be old Data files lying around. - *most importantly*, make sure that any MySQL dir in the following dirs are deleted. Mine weren't hidden but worth checking that too: = C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data = C:\Documents and Settings\
Windows People often checks MySQL's download section and when they notice that there is new version of MySQL released they just can't wait for a second & starts downloading it so that they can install it on their windows box for testing purpose. Ok https://ushastry.blogspot.com/2009/07/cannot-create-windows-service-for.html fine, download is completed its time to install it. Couple of successful "NEXT" and In the last step they encounter a error message such as "Cannot create Windows service for MySQL.Error:0" We are so intelligent ppl that we don't want http://www.w7forums.com/threads/cannot-create-windows-service-for-mysql.16124/ to take any help from our colleague.. And what we do is we just delete the directory in which new installation has been done & starts the installation wizard one-more time in the hope that this time we gonna error 0 install it. Again the result is same "Cannot create Windows service for MySQL.Error:0" So why are we getting error that too at the last step? one common thought is "there must be something wrong or some sort of bug in the new release" How to resolve this error? The primary reason for this error is that you haven't properly uninstalled the previously installed MySQL server & in the installation wizard last step was to create the service with the name cannot create windows "MySQL" and which has the same name as that of the existing service (default is "MySQL"). Solution for this error is to first stop the service if it is running and then remove the service. C:\>NET STOP MYSQL The MySQL service is stopping. The MySQL service was stopped successfully. Once the service is stopped, it can be removed with the SC utility: C:\>SC DELETE MYSQL [SC] DeleteService SUCCESS With the previous service stopped and removed, you can now run the MySQL Configuration Wizard again to configure and start the new MySQL service. Error 0 is often ERROR_SUCESS ( == No error ) Perhaps the service is already existing, that's why you get an error 0 (ok), but message says it can't create it since it's already exists... Run "mmc services.msc" and check if the mysql service is in the list.... I have stopped and deleted the service before and it appears this is as far as it gets in the install. That is, the mysql service gets partially created, since it appears in the list again after the install, but but it never gets completed, and started. cearlp, Nov 17, 2012 #3 fluke78 Joined: Nov 16, 2012 Messages: 6 Likes Received: 1 Location: Norway cearlp said: There is a service mysql listed as being Start up Type Automatic but it's blank under Status.
