I've been getting this Error 12029 ever since updating to BV 10.1. I've added BV to my accepted lists in my http://www.vodahost.com/vodatalk/threads/37795-Error-12029-Anything-other-than-Firewall-issue Firewall, and I've went as far as to shut down my firewall. I've rebooted several times and confirmed that the settings stay put. I've opened a support ticket, however the only response I'm getting from support is to add BV to my firewall and virus scan then reboot. Does anyone have any other ideas, if not, is there a way to go back to BV 9, because this was never an issue with that version. Thank you for any help you can give. 06-26-2008,10:30 PM #2 Karen Mac View Profile View Forum Posts Visit Homepage General Join Date Apr 2006 Location X marks the spot Posts 8,333 Re: Error 12029 Anything other than Firewall issue? Try adding your site to the trusted list in IE 7. Ive seen 7 cause similar headaches. Its may be that bv is ok, it might be your site being blocked. Also in explorer - internet settings..advanced settings .. if you are on high speed and running a modem/router make sure you have the passive firewall thing checked off. I forget the exact wording on that. You will know it when u see it. was trying to update my Dlink router WBR 2310 and could not connect to their sever. After runing a network diognostic, I got this message:FTP (Active): Error 12029 connecting to ftp.microsoft.com: A connection with the server could not be established. Windows says that it could be the firewall blocking the necessary port. Any suggestions? Thanks for your reply. Believe it or not the Windows fire wall was on. I was under the impression that ZASS automatically turned off the firewall. This is the first time I have seen it on. Once in a while I'll visit that window just to check to see if it is on. I will try to download the router update and install it. I'll report my attempt. I notice that the same error is present when I update Belarc Advisor. Thanks, George faxNovember 12th, 2008, 11:33 AMHi!yes, its a bug I noticed in the latest version... not always the XP firewall is OFF this can cause problems...Not sure it can help to resolve your problem...Cheers,Fax
