not allow you to install your own company's software??” asked a Microsoft Answers user after experiencing error 1303.This issue has occurred on Windows http://www.pchealthboost.com/blog/from-frustration-to-fix-error-1303-a-brief-guide/ computers as early as Microsoft Office 2000, and still happens http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/42597/error-1303-install-wont-complete-win7-admin-user/ when installing Office 2010. It doesn’t take place all the time, but when it does, it causes frustration.Common Error 1303 ScenariosThree years ago, someone bought a Gateway computer that had a trial of Office 2007 on it. This person tried to upgrade error 1303 for free to the 2010 version of the same program. In the process, a message appeared. It said, “"Error 1303, Setup cannot access the Folder C:/Program files (x86) Common Files/Microsoft shared/VBA/VBA6.”In other words, the person trying to set up the new program version couldn’t change VBA6 permissions. This usually occurs when a computer error 1303 windows user tries to install a program when not logged in as the administrator. This user could not install or the later Office version.Another person struggled with a similar issue when updating a Dell and also couldn’t get Office 2010 to work. This person couldn’t even change VBA6 permissions as the administrator.Possible Error 1303 FixesPC operators tried different ways of addressing this common problem. Some repair attempts took more time than others to carry out, and results varied. One of the most successful attempts at repair included these steps:Restart the computer in Safe Mode.Create a new registry key. This requires entering in “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\msiserver” when prompted.Edit the “Default” value in the new registry key.Enter “Service” in the “Value data” box.Click okay and close the registry editor.Reboot in Safe Mode again. An alternative and perhaps easier fix attempt involves these steps:If you’re a Windows 7 user, locate the folder when error 1303 appears.Right-click the folder and click “Properties.”On the P

I'm trying to update LibreOffice to version 4.3.4.1 (not sure of previous version, but it was 4.something). I keep getting this error: Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\LibreOffice4\program. The installation cannot continue. Log on as an administrator or contact your system administrator. I am logged into an admin account. I've tried changing permissions on the folder mentioned in the error message, but I get an error message saying "Unable to set new owner on program. Access is denied." (screen shot attached) In the screen shot, you can see that Windows doesn't know who owns the folder. I've tried changing ownership of the folder both to my username and to the administrators group. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I've installed previous versions of LibreOffice on this computer using this same user account before with no problem. Any help is much appreciated! edit retag flag offensive close merge delete add a comment 2 answers Sort by » oldest newest most voted 0 answered 2015-05-21 07:31:49 +0200 jonharell 1 If you have a brother printer - kill off the brother control center from taskmanager. Some odd glitch causes the program directory to be in use and thus blocks even a system user (PsExec -i -d -s) from removing or accessing it. I'm answering this for my own benefit - every time I try to upgrade LibeOffice I get an access denied and then go search Google and remember I just need to kill the Brother Control center and it works. edit flag offensive delete link more CommentsThanks for that.
