Error 1303 The Installer Has Insufficient Privileges To Access This Directory

Error 1303 Bluestacks
x86. It failed with this error: Error 1013. Setup cannot acess the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\EQUATION. Verify that the folder exists in your system and that you have error 1303 adobe sufficient permissions to update it. I tried dozens of times to take ownership of the folder, with no success for a very long time. I finally got it to work, and now I'm getting a very generic error. It says that Office 2010 has encountered an error during setup, but it doesn't specify what error. There's not even a error 1303 setup cannot access the folder equation code. I created a new administrator account, and it gets the first error again. I also cannot access (or take ownership of) the EQUATION folder from that account. Does anyone know how to fix this error? What is the EQUATION folder, anyway? Also, I understand locked-down folders, but why are there folders that give an Access Denied error when you try to take ownership of them? Thanks! -Lou Monday, September 13, 2010 10:17 PM Reply | Quote Answers 1 Sign in to vote Hi, No permission to access this file. Take ownership of the related file ============= 1. In the "Start" menu, locate "Command Prompt". Right-click and choose "Run as Administrator". Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Note 2: In Windows XP, click Start > Run, type cmd and press Enter. 2. Type the following commands, then press "Enter" to execute them one by one. Access denied, C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft shared\Source Engine does not exist or not accessable ************************************************************************* I tried the following attempts: 1. right office 2010 setup program and select "Run as administrator" to error 1303 the do the installation: still get the same error message 2. follow the path I found "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft shared\Source Engine" exists, but when double click to open it: it gave "Access denied" error 3. I look at the Windows login I am using, found that I am already using "Administrator" account 4. I try to delete the "source engine" folder from both window explorer or "rmdir" dos command, both get "access denied" error 5. I open the folder's property window and select security tag, but the privilege's to this folder is not listed. The owner is also not listed. I tried to take the ownership, but failed. Any suggestion how to delete this folder or take the ownership? Thank you. 0 Question by:huangs3 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 13 Best Solution by5g6tdcv4 Subinacl It is a tool from Microsoft to replace security info http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe-4a91-93cf-ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en Go to Solution 6 Comments Message Author Comment by:huangs32011-03-14 A guess come up to my mind now: the computer may be connected to some local area network domain and the administrator account of that domain is used to create that "source engine" folder. It said to click on START, All Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt. In the window type: icacls "c:\ProgramData" /T /C /grant administrators:F then press ENTER. A list of changes will scrool by at the end close the window. I think if the error message refers to a different folder you can change ProgramData to the folder named in the error message.
