Select the first option I am having problems installing QuickBooks and click OK. If you prefer to manually resolve this issue, or if the tool did not resolve the issue Solution 1: Edit the permissions for the appropriate folders To manually change permissions to Full Control for the SYSTEM and Everyone groups for the folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users: Windows 10, 8, 7 or Vista On your keyboard, press Windows key + R to open the Run window. In the Open field, enter the path C:\ProgramData\COMMON FILES\ and click OK. A window opens and displays the folder contents. In the Folder window, click Organize and then choose Properties. In the Properties window, click the Security tab. Click the Advanced button. Click the Edit button. Scroll down the list of Permission entries and double-click the SYSTEM user. installing LibreOffice 4.0.2 on Windows 8 Pro edit install windows-8 x64 error-1303 common libreoffice-4.0.2 asked 2013-04-13 09:39:14 +0200 StevieTNZ 21 ●2 ●2 ●3 updated 2015-09-27 11:43:31 +0200 Alex Kemp 10164 ●13 ●35 ●34 http://etmg.altervista... Hi there, I am trying to update LibreOffice to the latest version 4.0.2 on my Windows 8 Pro 64-bit laptop. I get so far, until I receive the following error: Upon right clicking on the installer file, and seeing if I can run it in administrator privileges, I am unable to select that option. There is only one user account on my laptop - my account, which naturally is an administrator user. Checking http://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/11567/libreoffice-402-install-error-in-windows-7-x64/ I tried following those instructions (replacing the file name LibreOffice_4.0.0_Win_x86.msi to LibreOffice_4.0.2_Win_x86.msi, but it resulted in the same error. How do I go about installing this update? Also, already stressed that it won't update correctly I couldn't even add the error image as an attachment (requiring 3 Karma points); resulting in further annoyance at having to upload to PhotoBucket etc. [And now the tags line wants text, and specific tags too. My word...] Many thanks for any help, Stevie edit retag flag offensive close merge delete Comments@StevieTNZ – (1) Upvoted = 10 "karma points" to add comments to answers, and to upload images ...(2) Upload error messagemanj_k( 2013-04-13 14:38:18 +0200 )editadd a comment 4 answers Sort by » oldest newest most voted 2 answered 2013-04-13 10:20:07 +0200 oweng 21238 ●14 ●91 ●154 updated 2014-02-22 03:53:40 +0200 This is bug FDO#58118. According to the MS support link in comment #3 the solution might be: To prevent this error from occurring, make sure the folder location into which you are installing Office has Full Control permissions for either the Everyone group or the SYSTEM group. Check the permissions for the parent folders because the permissions on these folders may also cause this problem. EDIT: I am adding in a couple of links that provide clearer step-by-step instructions for various versions of Windows as the MS instructions are terse. This problem is not a LO-specific issue, but a general OS directory permission error. The instructions provided for Adobe Creative Suite (XP and Vista - rename file from ODT to TXT extension) and Quickbooks (XP, Vista, 7, and 8) are hopefully detailed enough for less experienced users. edit flag offensive delete link more Comments1Thanks for that link.
