I had a scratch on the CD that was causing the CD unreadable in that one spot. Look over your CD surface real well. You may want to copy contents of CD to your HD and then try the installation from your HD. If the CD cannot be copied to your HD because of a scratch that makes it unreadable you will be warned with the file that it is trying to copy that cannot be at that time. I’ve also had this happen where the MDAC file was corrupt. Try downloading and installing the latest MDAC from Microsoft for Vista and installing it.
