"atiacmxx.dll failed to register" Discussion in 'Video Cards and error 1904 failed to register installshield Graphics' started by bigtm135, Nov 11, 2005. bigtm135 Member Joined: Nov 5, 2005 Messages: 67 Likes Received: 0 Whenever I update drivers I get this error.. If I do a fresh http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/error-1904module-cprogram-files-x86common/822a48d5-b2ec-49ac-a3c1-b9d92fda3906 install I never get it. I just tried to go from 5.10a to 5.11. I first ran the ATI Uninstall Utility to get rid of all the junk; then i ran the Driver Cleaner Pro after wards. After I rebooted i tried to install the 5.11 drivers but I get the error "Error 1904.Module C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\atiacmxx.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147220473. https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/error-when-installing-catalyst-drivers-atiacmxx-dll-failed-to-register.1739664/ Contact your support personel." So i proceed to uninstall everything again and again with the same result. My catalyst control center will not install. However the drivers install fine. Has anyone else had this problem and/or fixed it? It's not fun to have to format every time you change drivers. #1 bigtm135, Nov 11, 2005 imported_JPB Diamond Member Joined: Jul 4, 2005 Messages: 3,777 Likes Received: 0 I think the problem is that you need the netframework installed to use the control center. I had the same problem. Install that then try it, it should be fine. #2 imported_JPB, Nov 11, 2005 nycdude Diamond Member Joined: Jun 30, 2000 Messages: 7,802 Likes Received: 0 Originally posted by: x80064 I think the problem is that you need the netframework installed to use the control center. Joined: Dec 15, 2003 Messages: 1,180 Likes Received: 30 Trophy Points: 58 Hi! I have a problem installing the driver for my Remote Wonder. http://www.hardwareheaven.com/community/threads/remote-wonder-installation-bug.80457/ The 2.5.0.0 driver works fine, but when I try to install driver version 3.0.1.0 or 3.0.2.0 I always get this message: Error 1904.Module C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\RemCtrl\ATIRW.DLLl failed to register. HRESULT -2147220473. Contact your support http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/ms-antispware-install-error-1904-module-c.1710832/ personnel. I even tried to manually register the file with this command: regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\RemCtrl\ATIRW.DLL" Then I get the following message: LoadLibrary("C:\Program Files\ATI Multimedia\RemCtrl\ATIRW.DLL") failed - The specified module could not be error 1904 found. Any clues? Regards, Partizan Partizan, Jul 28, 2005 #1 H3X4D3C1M4L New Member Joined: May 31, 2005 Messages: 6,793 Likes Received: 27 Trophy Points: 0 Tried DriverCleaner and a reinstall? If you uninstall all the stuff from the Control Panel, unplug it then run Driver Cleaner and reinstall. Should help. Thanks, Partizan Partizan, Jul 28, 2005 #3 Partizan Fun loving criminal Joined: Dec 15, 2003 Messages: 1,180 Likes Received: 30 Trophy Points: 58 I uninstalled the driver, physically removed the USB receiver, ran DriverCleaner, rebooted into safe mode, ran DriverCleaner again, ran regedit and deleted all "wonder" entries and rebooted. Plugged the USB receiver, tried to install the driver and got the same message atirw.dll failed to register, and after that x10something.dll failed to register. I the only option left, a complete Windows reinstall? It all depends. Reinstalling Windows would give you a boost if you haven't reinstalled in the last 6 months - 1 year.
