It was not working either alone or https://forums.adobe.com/thread/235320 when initiated from MS Word or other programs. I would get an error message stating the it had "encountered a problem and would have to close." I transferred the software license for contribute out and then reinitiallized. This caused flash paper to re-install in windows, displaying the following error: Macromedia Contribute 3 Error 1904.Module C:\Windows\System32\Macromedia\Flash\Flash.ocx failed to register. HRESULT -2147220473. Contact your support personnel. When I clicked OK the installation completed and everything seems to work. : Flash General Discussion: Problems installing It is driving me insane!...- cePS. Since this is not a Northcode support topic I thought it would be ok to post here... (hope that's ok :)Posted by mbd in Coffee Lounge on Oct 14 2005, 09:34 amTake a look at this if you haven't already and see if anything there helps: http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_19166Smells a little like privileges to me. Are you admin on your PC? If not it's possible that someone has prevented registration of DLLs like this.It could be a Windows installer issue. The downloadable installer is an MSI file, not a typical EXE, so it requires the MS installer. I had to update a test computer here with some Windows patches in order to install Flash 8 because they used MSI for that as well. Can you get Flash player 7 to install? If so, perhaps you could try the express install feature - it's been in there since Flash player 6r65, and that's how Central gets installed.First uninstall Flash player 8: http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157Then try installing 7: http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14266If you can get Flash player 7 installed, go to: http://tracethis.com/contact_me/Or any site that uses express install. The Macromedia site probably does this as well, I'm just not sure where so I don't have a link for you.Hopefully this helps.mbdPosted by chrisemersonnc in Coffee Lounge on Oct 14 2005, 10:29 amFirst of all..... Thanks a ton for taking the time to reply. This isn't even SwfStudio related and you still offer help :) - Thanks. Here's my results/responses to your suggestions. I offer this level of detail to you and anyone else reading who may see a pattern or come up with a theory... QUOTE:Take a look at this if you haven't already and see if anything there helps: http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/k...cfm?id=tn_19166Yeah... I saw this earlier - the suggested steps/resolution didn't change anything for me...QUOTE:Smells a little like privileges to me. Are you admin on your PC? If not it's possible that someone has prevented registration of DLLs like this. I am a domain *and* local ADMIN. Even weirder that the Flash 8 Player/Plugin *was* working on my machine for the past week or two. I'm not sure what recent events might have spawned this problem, but the fact that others online are having similar problems (although very few) at least helps me know that it's not like I jacked up my regis
