I also have good clients, but sometimes forcing old software to work error 1904 module in new environments is penny-wise and pound foolish. Here goes: Background System crashed, reformatted and reinstalled Windows XP. A/V NOD32 Problems: In attempting to install an older version of QB, Enterprise 5 (current version is 7), it attempts to install Flash 7 (current version is 9). Get '3rd party...' error trying install from CD. Tried: Cleaned CD, no change. Uninstalled existing Flash plug-in (8), no change. Sent client Flash7.msi from another disk, get 'error 1904 failed to register.' Tried Safe Mode, no can do. To be tried: There used to be an uninstall program from Macromedia, now Adobe, but can't find it or not avail on Inet. Disable NOD32 and attempt. Any other suggestions?
