Contact your support personnel. IIRC that error means that the installation script is failing to register the DLL in the registry. Are doing this with admin privaledges? Make sure you have permission to muck with the registry. Have you tried to install this before and it failed for someother reason or you stopped it? Try finding it under "Add programs" and unintall it. Look for a duplicate registry entry in: http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/hp-scanjet-4400c-install-problems.1938549/ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs type "regedit" at the command prompt and search for hpgwiamd.dll and delete the key if you find it and try installing again. What is that? I cant get the scanner to function at all. I tried uninstalling all drivers and precision scanpro software, even thru safe mode, and reiinstalling thru safe mode, shut computer off, plug usb, plug power, and rebooted, and still no scanner? It does find new hardware, but scanner not found in the precsion proscan software. Something weird did happen when reiinstalling the software each time, as well error 1904 module as in safe mode, and its that message above I keep getting? Any insight to this is greatly appreciated! What is your OS?.......xp, 98, 95?........could make a difference in how to fix this..... What I did to fix the one I had was remove all entries from computer of scanner software.....dll's and registry entries....and remove scanner from device manager..........Here check out that sight.....HP says that the file size is wrong and that's why you get the 1904 error message...and hope it helps.......after fixing that one I had, I used an emage editing program such as photoshop and the twain driver instead of HP's Procision Scan.....Post back results.....like to know if it works....
