Setup cannot register https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/296931 module C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\1033\MSRCLR40.DLL Posted on 2009-07-28 MS Office Windows XP 1 Verified Solution 10 Comments 1,347 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-07 I have an XP SP2 machine that will not install Office 2003 Pro. It installs fine until it gets to registering components then gives the following error. Error 1904. Setup cannot register module C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\1033\MSRCLR40.DLL According to a MS KB https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/24607713/Officer-2003-Corrupt-install-Error-1904-Setup-cannot-register-module-C-Program-Files-Microsoft-Office-OFFICE11-1033-MSRCLR40-DLL.html article (that for the life of me I cannot find again), it is a mdac issue. Per that article I reinstaledl mdac by right-clicking c:\windows\inf\mdac.inf and choosing install. It prompts for the CD so I put it in and all went well. I also tried to copy the ODBC registry entry from a working machine, but neither way worked. It gives me the option to ignore, but then Access won't open, nor will anything else that uses ODBC. After it was finished I uninstalled it completely, and even deleted the c:\prog file\MS office folder, to be sure nothing stuck around. Then fresh install of MDAC, reboot, install office and the same error crops up. Any thoughts. 0 Question by:bhieb Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 22 Best Solution byoptoma Did you try newest windows installer http://www.microsoft.com/downloadS/details.aspx?familyid=5A58B56F-60B6-4412-95B9-54D056D6F9F4&displaylang=en Go to Solution 10 Comments LVL 22 Overall: Level 22 Windows XP 16 MS Office 1 Message Expert Comment by:optoma2009-07-28 Was there ever a previous version of office on that machine in question? commonobjmodel.dll failed to register - HRESULT -2147023898 When Installing Sage 100 ERP (SOLVED) January 22, 2014 by Wayne Schulz Several of our consultants http://www.s-consult.com/2014/01/22/error-1904-commonobjmodel-dll-failed-to-register-hresult-2147023898-when-installing-sage-100-erp-solved/ ran into this particularly nasty installation bug. We're not 100% sure why http://www.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/14613.page;jsessionid=CC2C0467B1924E441D390ED12BB12AD9 the problem occurs though some speculation is that Windows Server 2003 Small Business could be a major contributor. Sage 100 Installation Issue: Error 1904 while installing Sage 100 ERP 2013. This appears to occur during the install/registration of Crystal Reports runtime files and/or DLLs. Note: error 1904 Installing the full version of Crystal Reports may appear to complete but the program might not start up. Resolution: There can be many causes to this - from the simple (insufficient user rights) to the more complex (conflicting copies of DLL files). Here are several things you can try along with the solution that ultimately worked for two failed to register of our consultants in two separate installations. Although this could be a rights issue there is some indication that it may also be caused by .NET issues or one of the prerequisites failing to load or otherwise conflicting. Also be sure anti-virus is off and you are installing as administrator Caution: This has been an especially troublesome issue. Sage has had some difficulty resolving this and on some level it seems like Server 2003 SB might lend itself to the issue through reported non-standard management of DLLs. Open a case with Sage sooner rather than later. SOLUTION : Link: 1534393 - "Error 1904. Module C:\Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\..\dtsagent.dll failed to register …" when installing Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 MSI runtime 1.
