How to fix it Unless you have one of the special cases shown below, you will need to run the QBInstall tool: Click the Ignore button on the error message and allow the installation to complete. #1 10-11-2016, 12:09 AM sunlover Registered User Join Date: Oct 2016 Location: Victoria- AUSTRALIA Posts: error 1904 windows 10 2 Error 1904 with clean install QB's 2011/12 Upgraded PC recently, new M/B, ram & did clean install of Win 7 Home Edition SP1. Installed QB's Accounting Small Business https://community.intuit.com/articles/1021279-error-1904-2-failed-to-register-when-installing-quickbooks-desktop Edition 2011/12 from CD. Get numerous Error Messages during installation (see attached) & program fails to load. Have tried numerous fixes including QBInstall Tool, Component Repair Tool, created new Win Admin User to name a few to no avail. Have QB's as above running flawlessly on old PC components installed in an old PC box. D/loaded another copy http://forums.quickbooksusers.com/showthread.php?p=174228 of installation file on the net today & ran, same Errors?? I see Microsoft Visual C++ as a possible problem but I am not sure of how to address this. Would appreciate any advice on how to fix this problem. Repair the QuickBooks installation. If the error occurs when installing the Adobe Flash Player: Repair the QuickBooks installation. Uninstall the Adobe Flash Player: Windows 7 or Vista Windows XP Download and install the Adobe Flash Player from http://www.adobe.com If the error references QBversionTool.dll: Check for permissions and use the hidden (or built-in) admin account: Create a notepad file and try saving it in that directory to test permissions. Right-click the Start menu and choose Open Windows Explorer. Choose Start > Accessories > Notepad. Type QBTESTING in the notepad. From the File menu choose Save As. Click the Save In drop-down.
