I only get the error message after I install quicktime or itunes. Sometimes it says the "Windows error 5" part and sometimes it doesn't.As well, I am doing the msi installation of AAS after I have fully uninstalled itunes and the other Apple programs so it is the first Apple program going back on. After installing AAS that way, I've tried different ways of installing the others, i.e., via msi and WinRar, using the Apple full itunes install.I only have an ipod so I'm trying to fix this other than calling Apple since I'd have to pay for support.Do you have any suggestions, b noir? eMachines t5082.I just bought an iPhone 4 two days ago, so I downloaded and installed itunes.(As a background, I had iTunes on my computer 3 years ago, and was never able to sync my friend's old iPod onto it and had problems purchasing songs, so I have never had any luck with iTunes.)I've had two problems with iTunes since Thursday when I bought my phone.iTunes worked fine until I tried to update my library and sync my iPhone 4: either of the two caused iTunes to shut down.I had Apple Support call me, and followed their instructions to uninstall all Apple software through Control Panel. When I reinstalled as an Administrator, iTunes no longer opens, and I get the "Error 2 (Windows Error 5) Apple Application Support is required to install iTunes" code. When I check Control Panel, Apple Application Support is there, installed on my computer so I don't know why I'm getting this code.I tried Repair, and Uninstall again and reinstalled iTunes again.I called Apple back twice, and they advised me to uninstall all Apple software again, and that my Windows Vista needs to be updated to Service Pack 2, so I used windows update and spent the entire evening updating all important updates and restarted my computer. After restart, I downloaded iTunes again because they advised me that maybe I didn't have the current version.Installed as Administrator again, and I still get the "Error 2 (Windows Error 5)" code.I've uninstalled and reinstalled all the Apple software about 7 times since Thursday. No one at Apple knows what to do.One of the last techs told me it's a Windows problem. It's been very frustrating! I just want to put songs on my phone, and I don't want to have to re-buy songs all over again that I've already purchased on CD.I know this is long, but it's been a long process and I needed to list as much as possible in the order it happened. Can anyone help me? Keys to the Problem "Error 2 (Windows error 5)" - while reinstalling iTunes The error message you are getting is specific to the program, it isn't an error generated by Windows. As such, Apple is your best place for assistance. You could try creating a new adminsitrator account and test if everything works correctly there, but if that doesn't work, the only other option we can suggest is to backup your files to external media and reinstall Windows.http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Create-a-user-accounthttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/fix-a-corrupted-user-profilehttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Transfer-files-and-settings-from-another-computerhttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/help/i
