Run-Time Error '5': Invalid Procedure Call https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/201979 or Argument I am referencing the "MSWord 10 Object Library" and sometimes this error occurs at some point after the application has opened MSWord 2002. However, this app has referenced the MSWord 10 Object Library for years, and this error just started occurring in the last few months. I am assuming I have introduced a bug somewhere, but no idea what might be causing it. The error does not occur very often and cannot be reproduced by a user when I am http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2454671/what-causes-vb6-run-time-error-5-invalid-procedure-call-or-argument standing there. The error forces the app to totally shut down. At the top of the sub that has problems put On Error GoTo MyErrorHandler and then at the bottom put On Error Goto 0 Exit Sub MyErrorHandler: MsgBox "Error " & Err.Number & " (" & Err.Description & ") at line " & Erl Rather than using a MsgBox as I have here consider writing down to a file instead. Also for Erl to work correctly considering numbering each of your lines. For VB6 a great plugin is MZ tools link which will help you add the error handling and line numbers really easily share|improve this answer answered Mar 16 '10 at 13:50 CResults 4,60611324 1 +1 Put in the error handlers and put in the line nu

I have noticed that on some older sytems where I run my VB6 created executables, it gives me this "Runtime Error '5': Invalid Procedure Call or Argument". This doesn't seem to be a problem on WinXP, but on some Win2000 systems I receive this. I have also run all the recent VB6 service packs. Anybody have any suggestions or runtime error 5 hints? Thanks. Without knowing the line of code causing the error, everything will be pure speculation. Do you have a Win2000 machine available for your use on which you can load VB6, and run your program from the IDE to see if you can recreate the problem?
