After having no success I have tracked the problem to the server service not running. When I try to start it manualy I get an error message "Could not start the server service on local computer. Error 5 Access denied." https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/21132844/Can-not-start-the-server-service.html I am logged on with administrators rights. And I can see and access other machines on my network but they can not see me. Any ideas? 0 Question by:no1pcfxx Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 2 Best Solution byLunchy Closed, 300 points refunded. To check, go to My Computer click on Tools -> Folder Options. Click the View tab. In XP Pro the very last option in the list (for all of my computers at least) is "Use Simple File Sharing". This may not be your problem, because if it was I would expect your question to be more like "Why can't I share a folder" or "the security tab won't show up in Properties". Still, it could be related and it's worth checking out. 0 LVL 1 Overall: Level 1 Message Expert Comment by:SithLoaded2004-09-15 What service are you trying to start? 0 LVL 2 Overall: Level 2 Message Expert Comment by:j
