Error 5 Access Is Denied Windows 7 Fix
Advertisement ron40 Thread Starter Joined: Jul 6, 2004 Messages: 238 I have windows 8, 32 bit & I'm trying to system error 5 has occurred windows 7 net user administrator clear my print spooler, which I've done many times. I go to "run," type "cmd" & enter the command: "net stop spooler." When I execute the spooler command I get the above http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/getting-system-error-5-has-occurred-error-when/1eb2a0d1-4988-42ad-a482-82be6256b416 error message. I did a search on google & got a lot of hits but none of them were useful. What is going on & how do I solve this "system 5 error" problem? Thanks for any help. ron40, Jun 18, 2014 #1 Sponsor davehc Trusted Advisor Joined: Oct 4, 2006 Messages: 1,935 Try restarting the spooler at the same time. The combination command https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-system-error-5-has-occurred-access-denied.1128098/ would be net stop spooler && net start spooler I try to avoid the command line as much as possible, on the understanding that a user OS should not need in depth commands. When I have a document problem such as yours, I normally open the "Devices and Printers", in the Control Panel, click in and "see what's printing" and clear it from there. Sometimes needs a restart. davehc, Jun 19, 2014 #2 Macboatmaster Trusted Advisor Joined: Jan 14, 2010 Messages: 16,415 You must run that cmd on an elevated cmd prompt instead of simply opening the cmd prompt on windows 8.1 however you access it - right click and click run as admin or if you access it from search charms, click run as admin the cmd window will then be titled Administrator command prompt and not merely command prompt please see screenshot as explained here You can also clear print jobs by using an elevated Command Prompt. You will get the “Access Denied” error if you attempt to do this with a normal Command Prompt. That said, perhaps I am on the wrong tack as you say I have windows 8, 32 bit
normally use Services.msc to start or stop or disable or enable any service. We can do the same from windows command https://www.windows-commandline.com/start-stop-service-command-line/ line also using net and sc utilities. Below are commands for controlling the operation of a service.Command to stop a service:net stop servicenameTo start a service:net start servicenameYou need to have administrator privileges to run net start/stop commands. If you are just a normal user on the computer, you would get an error like below.C:\>net start error 5 webclient System error 5 has occurred. Access is denied. C:\>To disable a service:sc config servicename start= disabledTo enable a service:sc config servicename start= demandTo make a service start automatically with system boot:sc config servicename start= autoNote: Space is mandatory after ‘=' in the above sc commands. This SC command works on a Windows 7 machine and also access is denied on the down-level editions of Windows i.e Windows XP/2003 and Windows Vista. Again, if you do not have administrator previliges you would get the below error.C:\>sc config webclient start= auto [SC] OpenService FAILED 5: Access is denied.Note that the service name is not the display name of a service. Each service is given a unique identification name which can be used with net or sc commands. For example, Remote procedure call (RPC) is the display name of the service. But the service name we need to use in the above commands is RpcSs. So to start Remote procedure call service the command is:net start RpcSsTo stop Remote procedure call servicenet stop RpcSsThese service names are listed below for each service. The first column shows the display name of a service and the second column shows the service name that should be used in net start or net stop or sc config commands.Display Name of the serviceServiceName which should be used with ‘net' and ‘sc config' commands.AlerterAler
