Try IDEAL Administration 2016 during 30 days on your network for free!Active Directory Management & Reporting Made Easy with IDEAL Administration 2016 The message "System error 53 has occurred. The network path was not found" is a common native message of Microsoft Windows Operating System and is not directly related to http://www.pointdev.com/en/faq/faq-ideal-administration-system-error-53-error-53-windows-error-53-the-network-path-was-not-found-id-453.html Pointdev softwareTo resolve this error, please verify the following points : - The "RemoteRegistry" service must be up and running on the remote computer. - Check that you can ping with the CMD prompt the remote host (by its IP address or by its physical NetBIOS name), and that the host answers without significant packet loss. If the remote host does not answer when it is pingued by its hostname but answer when pingued with its IP address, please check on the remote host the DNS properties. This point should be considered because a good many functionalities of our products use the name resolution when trying to to access remot hosts. - Check on the local computer and on the remote host that there is no security hardware or software blocking or filtering the communication between the local and remote machines (firewall / antivirus / router ...). If necessary rules have to be instaured (port opening, port translation ...) in order to allow the communication between the two machines.- Please be careful with Vista computer because the network security is increased. Indeed, the native Windows Vista firewall is activated by default. Check also in the network center that the network discovery and file sharing is turned on. Ensure also that the remote registry service (execute services.msc) is enable

I just recently started noticing a hang in the amount of time that it takes for a client to log into the domain. But when I go to check the PDC, all I see in the event viewer under the "System Log" error 5 is that "The NTP server didn't respond".I'm guessing it's some sort of Net Time protocol server? How do I fix it? Why is it asking for it? Do I have to change the MoBo battery?Sorry to bother you guys.Thanx in advance. Back to top Report #2 ryoko ryoko member Members 163 posts Posted 07 March 2002 - 07:03 PM well, NTP is network time protocol. I can not system error 5 recall if you are running win2k or NT. Either way you could check your firewall settings to see if the port is blocked if you want access to an external time server. 2000 depends on all systems having accurate time much more than NT. It has to do with the authentication especially using kerberos security.Hope this helps.-Ry Back to top Report #3 dcxman dcxman member Members 146 posts Posted 07 March 2002 - 07:45 PM Thanx again Ryoko.I do have a Win2K domain setup. You're probably right about the port being blocked off. Our main network area just recently received an Extreme Networks Firewall. I'm pretty sure they're implementing and testing settings. I don't suppose you would know how to setup a Win2K Adv. standalone server for NTP?Well, thanks again in advance either way. For the server, check out this Technet KB article for more information:http://support.micro...;EN-US;Q216734Go here

The network path was not found Posted on 2010-11-14 SBS Active Directory Windows Server 2003 1 Verified Solution 3 Comments 2,280 Views Last Modified: 2012-08-13 I have a SBS 2003 I map to three drives with a bat file in default domian policy (at logon) which works fine I have one other drive I want to map to only a few users. I created a group for the users, created the share and add the group to that share under sharing/permissions. I added the group to the few users as well. The drive mapping does not work for that one drive When use explorer to access the drive \\server\drive and I access and create files on the drive. When I do net use X: \\server\drive I get "System error 53 has occurred. The network path was not found" Only on that one drive. If I net use Y: \\server\drive on the drive where everyone has access to it works fine with no erros. Any ideas why? 0 Question by:Gerhardpet Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 27 Best Solution byKenMcF The new share does it have a space in the sahre name? You should set the share permissions to everyone full control and then set access permissions with NTFS (security) permissions. When doing so make sure you add the system account with full control.
