Sonicwall Probing Got No Response From Netapi
Matt Patzwald Jan 16, 2013 at 2:01 UTC Ugh...the dreaded SonicWall SSO. I hated that piece of software SO much when I had to use it for content filtering. It is incredibly buggy and fails more often than it actually works. I would get that message alot when a computer would be offline typically, it couldn't query the machine properly, or the pc would be busy cpu wise and didn't respond fast enough. Sometimes it would require restarting the program of even sometimes the sonicwall sso agent did not respond sonicwall. 1 Jalapeno OP DJ8824 Jan 16, 2013 at 3:49 UTC We tried it and ended up switching to an iprism. 0 Sonora OP Helpful Post Jaime Escalera Jan 16, 2013 at 6:27 UTC For the most part, these issues are due to the agent's inability to successfully query a workstation. You will also see messages of this type when the agent tries to query non-Windows systems, such as iPads/iPhones, Android devices, routers, VoIP phones, Mac/Linux systems, etc. This also happens on non-domain Windows systems that the agent system would not have privileges to access using Windows file sharing. If you are seeing these on Windows systems that are joined to the domain, I suggest adding exclusions in the Windows Firewall (if its enabled) for File and Printer Sharing, and making sure that File and Printer Sharing is enabled. This will take care of most Windows systems. I also recommend enabling NetAPI Probing in your firewall's SSO settings. Its under Users > Settings > Configure the SSO Settings > Users tab > Enable "Probe users for" option, and select NetAPI. The result: Workstations that cannot be probed will not be queried by the SSO Agent, thus reducing SSO Agent load and reducing the amount of time needed for the firewall to release the held packets that were held in order to identify the user. The firewall's Tech Support Report (TSR) (downloaded from System > Diagnostics) also includes information about the IPs that reported SSO err

I have the SonicWall communicating with the error 53 network agent, I ran the tested through the test feature in config menu for the SSO method, it comes up as Agent is Ready. However, when I check a user by using an IP address it says no user found. Users have already been loging on with the authentication as LDAP + Local Users, I assume this would stay the same. As well setup was done with default setting. Any help would be appreciated.
