Solved net use command won't map drives Posted on 2004-12-06 Windows Server 2003 1 Verified Solution 29 Comments 70,688 Views Last Modified: 2011-08-18 Hello, I am trying to set up some simple login scripts. At this point I just want to map some drives for each user. So I try the following: net use u: \\server-name\share-name\ But I get the following error message: System error 67 has occurred. The network name cannot be found. When I looked for information, I found this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/Q265/8/61.ASP&NoWebContent=1 The article gives two ways to resolve the problem: the first I don't know anything about, the second really doesn't sound like a resolution at all. Then it says this behaviour is by design. How useless is that?! Do you have DNS setup correctly? DNS is often times the cause of a mirrad of connection problems. Can you manually connect to a share by typing \\server\share ? 0 LVL 2 Overall: Level 2 Message Accepted Solution by:timSA2004-12-06 I assume you have windows XP or windows 2000 client and windows 2000/2003 server. -Make sure you actually shared a folder and that shared folder name is correct. -Ping the server from the client machine like: ping server-name. If you get a successful response back, your netbios is working okay. -If you don't have a WINS server in your network, place the IP number of the server in a LMHOST file like this: 1
